Ghost tour of Leesburg

RSVPs were due to Mrs. Tatriw today. You still have till Monday evening but that is the latest. Many of you said you were available (not Tracy and Amy) so why hasn’t she heard from you.

Car Sense

If you are confirmed for this event (and I don’t know if anyone is or I would contact you direct) you must contact Mrs. Davis by November 4 and arrange to get the permission slip and health forms. If you show up without them you will not be able to participate.

New York Trip

The following people are confirmed to go on the trip in February: Amy, Tracy, Alex, Katherine, Corianne, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Irvin, and Mrs. Tatariw. As you saw from the recent email if we get Lion King tickets the final cost will be about $40.00 more than first projected.

Theater Weekend

The following people are confirmed to go: Amy, Tracy, Alex, Katherine, Lucy, Corianne, Lauren, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Irvin, and Mrs. Tatariw. Permission slips will be mailed to the girls and must be returned to Mrs. Davis by the due date of Novemeber 4 along with a check for the additional costs. The additional costs will be $6.50 for lunch in the dining hall on Saturday and $25.00 for the hotel which includes a full breakfast. The girls will need to bring additional money for dinner Saturday (restaurant) and lunch on Sunday (fast food).

Gold Award Workshop

Sunday, October 27 from 2 to 5 at the New Lodge at Crowell.  Questions? Contact Carol Frost at 703-318-9440 or cifrost@aol.com or Kath Delia at 703-787-8185 or jbdelia@erols.com

Gingerbread House Fundraiser

As discussed at our first meeting we will be making gingerbread houses with Daisys and Brownies on Saturday December 7 from 1 – 3 pm. How many of you plan to participate as it determines how many girls we can accept? Let Mrs. Davis know by October 18.

Singing at the Pageant of Peace

The Girl Scouts of Oakton applied and were accepted to return to sing at the Pageant of Peace Sunday Dec 8 at 8pm.  We will sing essentially the same songs...but open to alternates (particularly would like a "round" to replace White Coral Bells which is not a HOLIDAY song).  Anyone interested in doing duets, solos, musical instrument trios etc. Are you interested in leading the singing as you did two years ago? (Otherwise, I think another troop will).  We will again have approx 75 girls who will be outfitted in Santa hats (small fee) to wear while holding the red covered song books.  And there will be a patch.  There will have a rehearsal in late Nov one evening to practice logistics of riser positioning, singing and snacks.  There will be a hospitality tent or staging tent as before at the Ellipse.

Might you be interested in going downtown a little earlier and having hamburgers at Hard Rock or Planet Hollywood?  There is NO PARKING at the Ellipse due to 9/11 security, might we want to ride metro?

This is the same weekend that we are doing the Gingerbread Houses.  Hopefully that will not prevent any of you from doing both. Please let Mrs. Davis know by October 18 if plan to attend.

TTG

The October TTG will be in the mail to you next week along with any permission slips you need for the activities you are interested in attending.

Lazy Susan Dinner Theater

Yes, another decision – do you want to go to this event again and if so when? The dates available are January 12 and 19 (which is a 3 day weekend). The play is Ten Little Indians, a murder mystery. The cost will be $28.00 per person and includes the usual buffet lunch. Please let Mrs. Davis know by October 18 (as we have to commit to a date and number at the October 23 TOGA meeting) if you want to go, and if so what date and how many. This has traditionally been a mother daughter event.

Council Hours at GSCNC

Seniors can earn council service hours toward their Silver Trefoil by assisting the registration department with filing of membership registration forms. They can use a MAXIMUM of 4 girls on school holidays or teacher in-service days, when the office is open.  Interested girls should contact Lucy Coley (202) 237-1670 ext. 295 to schedule a time.

Girl Scouts are needed to help sort and shelve merchandise at the Clock Tower Thrift Shop (note: locations in Centreville and Falls Church).  This is a non-profit thrift shop. The Thrift Shop does provide lunch (pizza) for those helping. There will also be park clean up projects on that day - and I will be forwarding that information as soon as I receive it.

Any individuals interested in helping should contact:  Becky Cate at becky@mesa-info.com .
