Next Troop Meeting is September 24

Mrs. Irvin sent a message saying this meeting was moved from October 1 to September 24. This gives Mrs. Irvin a chance to meet with you as she has a conflict on October 1. Mrs. Davis will not be at the September 24 meeting so if you have any business with her please arrange to take care of it at another time.

Summary of Planning from Last Meeting

Here is a wrap-up of what may be planned for this year:

TOGA Activities (enough interest to make worthwhile for consideration)

1.      Lazy Susan Dinner Theater – 9 votes

2.      Rafting/tubing – 7 votes

  Service Opportunities

1.      Sudden Service – Mallary, Lucy, Tracy, Amy, Corianne & Katherine Girls may be called as a group or individually.

2.      90th sing-a-long – Corianne, Amy, Tracy, Lucy & Mallary. Names were submitted along with preferences noted on their forms.

  Events

The only events getting more than one vote (and only 1 got more than 2 votes) were: kayaking, backpacking, Kings Dominion trip and Coast Guard Cutter overnight.  Four girls have no desire to do any events this year. These are now things we can start planning. The interested scouts will do planning for an event, vice the whole troop, as everyone’s time is precious.

October 20 Fair

The schedule is as follows:

Katherine             9 – 11

Tracy               9 – 11

Lauren            11 – 2

Alex                 12 – 2

Lucy                11 – 2

Please wear a GS related t-shirt. The fair is at the old schoolhouse on the corner of Vale Road and Fox Mill road (some of you sold GS cookies there last year.)

Cosmic Bowling

Five of the seven girls interested responded to this event but only two said they could go. The deadline was today so unless one of the parents of the two girls wants to “lead” the event we will not participate. Mrs. Irvin said she would assist with coordinating a troop trip of Cosmic Bowling at a later time.

Knitting for Fun & Charity

Mr. Wolfe, a former GS leader and Association Chair, has offered to teach girls how to knit. If there is enough interest than she would have classes at Camp Crowell several Sunday afternoons. Girls could work on squares that would be made into a quilt for charity. Let Mrs. Davis know by September 30 if you think you would be interested.

Troop Administration

Any outstanding paperwork or dues for this new scout year is past due. Girls cannot participate in troop events until it is complete.
