I was shocked to see that Joe Mooney, Class of 1965, had passed away. He was a "Typhoon" through and through and fine "north end" kid. In sports he gave us all many memories. So young, so young!

Oh, sure, Guys. I move back to the area with every intention of crashing your Christmas Party, and you decide not to have one because of lack of interest!!!
ARGHHH! I was interested! I was PLENTY interested!! I was interested enough for ALL of you!!! I was...what's that? It's not my class?!? Oh, yeah. Bummer. Well, it WOULD have been great fun... :o)

I can't speak for everyone, but I am thrilled that Paula Sturtevant is alive, well, and after all these years of searching finally located! Because of the many commitments of many of our classmates, those in attendance last night elected that there would be no class meetings for the months of November, December, and January. We will be back at full speed the first Monday night in February, 2002. Same time and same location: Sammy & Nicks on Mercury Boulevard at 6:30 PM.

If at all possible, those who plan to attend the reunion are requested to PLEASE send in your response and fees as soon as possible after January 1st. We really picked a big nut to crack by choosing the Omni for the reunion, and as of right now we have only a little over $1400.00 in our checking account. The response to date has been pretty good for early on, but remember that only you guys can make this thing
happen!

Because of a minor lack of interest, there will be no picnic or Christmas party this year. If any of you have any questions, please let us know.

I'm sorry to report the death of Glenn Barkley, Class of 1961, on September 27, 2001 in Pascagoula, MS. Band members may recall Glenn's proficiency on the clarinet, which earned him the Sherman Award. His senior picture and obituary may be found on the News
link of the '65 web page. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

Hi all, Usually we do not have a committee meeting in July, especially for that reason, July 4th. So unless things change, see you on August 6th. Glad everyone
had a great Memorial Day weekend. I sure did at Nags Head, not one drop of rain until I left on Monday. WOW! What a great weekend!! The east coast, THE BEST!!
Hey All, put the date by your name, it sure helps everyone know what date you wrote on the webpage.
Thanks!

To "Stonewall Jackson Elementary" grads. Did you see where Clinton Jefferson passed away this past week? He lived at 47th St. and Virginia Ave. (Oops, Warwick Blvd.) He played Little League with us "Northenders". Too damn young to go!

To the Class of 62 committee. Can't make June's meeting. When is July's? Not the week of the 4th, I hope.

Soon!

Happy Memorial Day weekend to all. Got to play in the sand here at Buckroe Beach for a couple of hours before the rains came. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Speaking of Memorial Day, did we lose any classmates during the Vietnam War?

Sunday's (6May) Daily Press reports that our classmate Calvin Hanrahan participated in the 2001 5K by the Bay road race on Sat. The run was along Chesapeake Ave and Calvin came in 3rd in his age group, timed at 23.02 min. Way to go Bubba, I bet you heard Coach Conn cheering you on!

Response to the reunion notice has been really good, and it looks like a good number will be staying at the Omni! Sadly, a few notices have been returned unknown.
If you know where the following can be found, let us know right away: Danny Jernigan, Josie Morgan (Robinson), Pat Massey (Martin), Phillip Gold, Wayne Poteat, David Parrish, and Stanley Binder. Thanks for your help.

I recently got my letter reguarding our 40th reunion. Everything looks great and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and having lots of fun. I had a blast at our 35th.

I want to say kudos, atta boy and thank you to the reunion committee. I know you have worked hard for the rest of us. To show my gratitude, I'm going to grant your request and get my reunion fee in right away. Also I would like to make a donation since the funds are so low. I challenge my classmates to do the same.

On Monday, April 2 I had the opportunity to attend the Class of 62 Reunion Committee meeting for the first time in over a year. They promptly put me to work stuffing envelopes. I know I speak for all the Class of 1962, especially the out-of-towners, in saying that we are very grateful and appreciative for all the work and effort the local committee members do for everyone. As we near next year's reunion I hope we
will support their effort even more and tell them personally how much we appreciate them! Bring the 40th ON!!!

Good news! A contract was signed today guaranteeing The Omni for October 18th and 19th, 2002. After the down payment was paid, we are now left with only $74.04 in our checking account. A notice containing all particulars has been printed, and should be in the mail within the next week to all classmates. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions.
