Party Animals

It all started with Chicago and their cows.

Chicago had a street art exhibit of various cow sculptures, each uniquely painted or styled, placed throughout the city. This was widely successful, and has led to other cities following suit with their own animals - Miami has done flamingos, and I think Baltimore had fish. In Washington, it was the "Party" animals - donkeys (Democrats) and elephants (Republicans).

Originally, it was an "oh, how nice" sort of thing. But then Pat (at whose house we went for the picnic on the Fourth) mentioned to Nicole that she was going to try to find as many as she could and take pictures of them. Suddenly, it became a race, with yours truly dragged into the fray.

There were supposed to be 200 placed throughout the city. We found and photographed 198. One was never placed, because the artist passed away before it was completed. And the last was the infamous PETA elephant. We did in fact find it, but Nicole refused to take a picture of it because she did not want to support, as she saw it, the sullying and politicization of something meant to be a fun artists' showcase.
