In June 2002, the Jack Diamond local radio show held a promotion in which anyone who arrived at Hershey Park while the show was on that day could get in free. Needless to say, we left before dawn and got there just after 7 a.m.
For anyone who's never been there before, let me tell you - the place literally smells of chocolate. After a few hours, you don't even notice it.
This is the reason for the chocolate smell - Hershey's Chocolate World, the public side of the Hershey's plant. Inside there's a kinda cheesy ride/tour rather like the Haunted Mansion at Disney World. I hear you used to get some good free chocolate afterwards, but now all you get are those tiny snack squares. |
These are different views of the Park itself, taken from the giant Ferris Wheel and the Conestoga. |
I wish I'd waited about another second to take this... This is the spot that exists in just about every park with water rides - where people stand on some bridge or overlook to get soaked by a giant plume of water at the end of some ride. The one here at the Tidal Force was truly huge - even this shot gives you some idea. | |
Finally, this is a shot of me on the Chaos - I'm in the second cab from the left. |
