A Journey Into the Secret Places of the Heart

Looking for depth, I find myself shallow
In my harboring soul's lost dreams.
I measure the land I let go fallow
With unfinished chores and incomplete schemes.
My short stature can't quite display
The ineptitude my human form holds
So I turn to Thy resplendent array
And hide in Thy white garment's folds.
Reach into my breast with Thy thought's sharpness,
Clenching my heart with Thy word's grip.
Pass me not in the night-filled darkness;
Pass me not in the new day's dew drip.
Though I come to Thee with tasks incomplete,
Thou takest me in as I sit at Thy feet.
