Tristan was one of King Arthur's strongest knights, who could be beaten only by Lancelot. Tristan fell in love with Isolt, the wife of his uncle King Mark. After spending several years at Arthur's court and taking a wife named Iseult, Tristan returned to King Mark's lands for Isolt. King Mark and his aides attacked and mortally wounded Tristan. Tristan died, not knowing that his love, Isolt, was on her way to meet him.

Uther Pendragon was King of the Britons and the father of King Arthur. Uther's downfall began with his passion for Igraine. He had Merlin turn him into the image of Gorlois, Igraine's husband, so that he may be with her. Their union begat Arthur, who was spirted away by Merlin to be given into the foster care of Sir Ector. Uther was killed in battle two years after Arthur's birth.
