FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Michael Cuddyer's sixth-inning solo home run broke a 3-3 tie and helped give the Twins a 6-4 victory over the Orioles before 6,143 fans at Hammond Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Cuddyer, who got the start in right field, jumped on a 2-1 pitch from Baltimore's Eric DuBose (0-1) and pulled it over the left-field wall. He also drove in a run on a fielder's choice play in the third inning.
Michael Restovich added a two-run triple in the eighth inning to extend Minnesota's lead to three runs. Todd Sears and Michael Ryan also drove in runs during the game. Dustan Mohr also had a triple and drove in a run.
Eddie Guardado (1-0) pitched a perfect sixth inning to get the win. Jeromy Palki worked the final two innings and allowed a run and four hits to get the save.
Rick Reed started his third game for the Twins and went three innings. He allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits with a strikeout and a hit batter.
