ANAHEIM, CALIF. -- The Twins must set their 25-man playoff roster by Sunday night. Manager Ron Gardenhire said he wants to make sure Michael Cuddyer is on it.
Cuddyer will be one of the Twins' September callups. Because outfielder Lew Ford is on the disabled list, the Twins have the flexibility of adding Cuddyer, via Ford's spot, to the playoff roster after the Aug. 31 deadline for setting rosters.
The Twins also have three pitchers on the disabled list, so they can add or change pitchers to their roster, as well.
But their plan is to have 15 position players and 10 pitchers on their playoff roster. Cuddyer would be the 15th player.
Twins General Manager Terry Ryan said he didn't expect to call up top prospect Joe Mauer, a catcher at Class AA New Britain, in September.
