- As a convenient substitute for coconut milk used in curries or Thai food, add 1/2 tsp. Watkins Coconut Flavor to 1 cup of half-and-half.
Baking Powder
- To make mashed potatoes light and creamy, add a teaspoon of Baking Powder when mashing and beat them vigorously.
- For the highest meringue, add some Baking Powder to room-temperature egg whites before beating them. As you beat the whites, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar for each egg used, beating continuously.
- Baking Powder retains maximum potency for about 1 year after opening. To help maintain freshness, turn the can upside down once a month.
- To test the leavening ability of your Baking Powder, place 1/2 teaspoon in 1/4 cup hot water. If the powder is usable, the water will bubble actively.
