this is how the job started on sunday afternoon then it started to rain, so all i wanted to do was get it over, i did not take many more picture beacuse i was cold wet and pissed off. i had to take the whole axle shaft over to my frinds house and press the bearing assembly off the spindle because it was siezed on (lots of cursing). lucky he has a nice 20 ton press.I replaced u joint while I was there in the dry garage, a 20 ton press makes easy work of a u joint it took about 15 min. . there was a lot of pitting on the spindle it must have gotten prety hot down there when the bearing failed. after i cleaned off the spindle splines with a pick tool and a wire brush on a drill I realized I had ruined the threads on the spindle trying to use a hammer to get the old bearing saaembly off the axel. I was able to get the new assembly on the spindle with some high temp anti-sieze and a mallet then I had to use a thread file for about two hours to fix the ruined threads on the spindle. did i mention it was raining out the whole time. i finally got it all back in place as it was getting dark and snapped this final picture.
