About Myself
Hi there. If you actually take the time to read this page, you're either bored out of your mind or you care about me somewhat. If it's the latter, thanks! If it's the former - write your own page, it will be much more fun for you. It's really easy - all you really have to do is sign up for an angelfire page, then go to the provided HTML cheatsheet or look up others. Trial and error, baby.
Past About Me
About My Past
My mother was raised in Beirut, Lebanon, the sixth and youngest child of a Turkish Armenian doctor and an American missionary from the Midwest. My father was raised in Maine, across the street from where we live now, the sixth and youngest child of his family too. I happen to be the oldest of their four, born in Houston and raised in Maine. I'm generally your average "goody-two-shoes", having been raised in a loving and very sheltered home without the materialistic view shared by so many people. My father cut wood for a living, and with four kids my mom chose the obvious and stayed at home. My family didn't have a lot of money, so we went without a lot of modern items, like cable television. My hobbies growing up ranged from tomboyish (biking, swimming, climbing trees, whittling, building cabins) to girlie (playing with makeup and dressing up, sewing, doing crafts) to average (playing the piano, reading, squabbling with siblings). I took piano lessons all my life starting in 3rd grade and showed a greater aptitude for it than the average Joe in my small town. Playing was something I really enjoyed, as was school. I was one of the top students in my class and in highschool was involved in nearly everything going, except for the sports. My main interests were musical, and I was a more than active participant in the band, chorus, and any theater productions going on. I made up my mind as a sophomore that I was going to study music and become a conductor like my "idol", Eugene Ormandy. I graduated second in my class, earning a full tuition scholarship to the University of Maine, my father's alma mater.
I started college out as a music major, but had basically changed my mind before I even got here. I realized that, lacking a more solid previous music education than my small-town piano lessons, I had little or no chance of becoming a conductor of any famous orchestras. Also, due to the fact that my piano lessons were from a small town, I had no real hope of becoming a performance major. And I definitely didn't want to teach. So when I started to really enjoy my first geology class, I decided to switch majors. My dad had been a geophysicist for Exxon after college, and had somehow passed his enthusiasm for geology to me without my knowing it. I presently have 6 shoeboxes full of collected rocks in my bedroom at home, and I'm glad I'm finally learning what I need to know to be able to identify them.
So far college has been a lot of fun. My courses are really interesting and I make tons of new friends each semester. I have definitely gained some life-long friends, and I'm really thankful for them.
About Me
Although I feel that I've grown up a lot since coming to college, there are many things about me that haven't changed at all since I was a kid.

Life is excellent right now. After a rough year forcing a relationship that wasn't really working for me, I finally gave it up and am enjoying my freedom immensely. I have some really neat friends who live around here, and after your average 8 hour day of a pretty mind-numbing job, I love to go hang out with them. My four closest friends are geology majors, like I am, so that makes things kinda fun. While the weather hasn't been the greatest all month, it has been beautiful the last few days. Overall, I'm definitely happier now than I can ever remember being. Maybe I'm finally learning to relax.
