Beechdrops is used externally for wounds, bruises, cuts, skin irritation, and other conditions where an astringent is called for.

Description:
This native North American plant grows as a parasite on the roots of beech trees. It has a scaly, tuberous root and a branching, slender, leafless stem that reaches a height of 12 to 18 inches. The entire plant is a dull, red color.
