~*~ In a Hurry ~*~
AJ stormed into the house and would have slammed the door but Howie was there to catch it. He watched as his best friend threw his keys and stormed through the living room throwing whatever he put his hands on.
"’J’, you need to calm down," tried Howie.
"FUCK OFF, DOROUGH! You aren’t about to lose THE PERFECT WOMAN!"
Howie shook his head. "So you’re gonna break your promise to her?"
AJ spun around, his eyes blazing with the fury of a man possessed. "I can’t CHANGE what I don’t understand! This ASSHOLE has some magical hold over her grandfather and right now, I’m powerless to do anything about it."
The flashing light on the answering machine caught Howie’s attention. "Why don’t you check your messages? Maybe Andi called."
"How the fuck is she gonna call? Her grandfather has my cell phone and she doesn’t know my number. It’s probably Seth calling to gloat or some lunatic fan wanting a roll in the sack!"
Howie reached down to push the play button and Andi’s voice echoed through the room. AJ looked at the answering machine as if she was going to pop out of it.
"An hour! She left that message over an hour ago! Shit!"
Howie watched as AJ scrambled to find shoes, his wallet, and the keys that had been thrown when he came in the house. "You need to calm down, AJ."
"I’ll calm down when I have her in my arms…. PERMANENTLY!" and he tore out of the house.
Howie followed him but it was no use. AJ was in his car and gone before Howie could catch him. Watching as the taillights disappeared into the early morning darkness, Howie shook his head and went back inside to wait for AJ to return and to try and call Andi.
He dialed AJ’s cell phone number and Andi picked up immediately. "Alex?"
"No, baby. It’s me. AJ is on his way."
"Where has he been, Howie?"
"At the club. I wanted to warn you…he’s been drinking and might not be rational. DO NOT propose anything that you two will regret later."
"Thanks, Howie, but it’ll be okay."
"What’s going on?"
"I’ll explain it later but my grandfather wants to talk to both of us…at our usual spot which means he doesn’t want Seth interfering."
"That’s great, Andi. Maybe you two panicked for no reason."
"I hope so. Thanks for letting me know."
"No problem. Tell AJ that I’m gonna crash in his guest room."
"Okay."
Howie hung up and made his way up to the guestroom that he frequently used. He was exhausted and wanted some sleep before they all had to meet to discuss their future for working on the new album.
