~*~ Winning an Ally ~*~

Leaning against a tree outside the building Andi had said she would be in, AJ waited. He checked his watch several times to be sure he hadn’t missed her.

From behind him, she said, "I see you have the same impatient nature as my daughter."

AJ spun around only to be greeted by the same beautiful black eyes that left him powerless. "Mrs…."

"I told you, it’s Belinda. How long have you been waiting?"

"About ten minutes. I wanted to be here when Andi got out of class."

Belinda spotted the rose in his hand and smiled. "Spoiling her already?"

AJ blushed, "Sorta. I brought her one Monday but didn’t yesterday. Mrs.…Belinda, I want to marry Andi and since you have to go ahead and plan a wedding in case…"

Belinda watched as the young man stumbled his way through. She was quick to see one of the reasons Andi had fallen for him. Rescuing him, she said, "Why don’t we plan this for the two of you instead? IF for some reason Andi had to marry that skank, she can at least imagine it’s you."

AJ chuckled at hearing her description of Seth but he was completely serious. "I have NO intentions of letting her marry him. She is the most incredible woman and I want her in my life."

Reaching up, Belinda removed AJ’s dark glasses to look into his eyes, something that Andi did. "You truly love her, don’t you?"

"Yes ma’am."

"Father said you two just met last week when Andi ran into you."

AJ smirked, "Yeah, she was pissed too. Said something about having just bought the car."

Belinda laughed, "Sounds like Andi. That car has been in the family for quite some time. It was her brother’s and he gave it to her when he got married. So, you’ve had a taste of Andi’s temper."

"She has your temper…and your beauty."

"Thank you, but I have to ask…how can you be so sure that Andi is the one for you?"

"Mr. Powell asked the same thing this morning." AJ stopped when he felt her hands on his sides, then her body pressing against him. He put a hand on hers and looked over his shoulder at her. "Hey, beautiful."

"Hey you! Let me guess, you two were talking about me?"

Belinda smiled, "Yes, as a matter of fact, we were. Are you ready for lunch?"

"Yes ma’am, but we don’t have to stay here."

"Why not, baby?" questioned AJ as he handed her the rose.

"Ahh, you’re so sweet. My afternoon class was cancelled because the professor is sick."

"Cool! I can treat the two most beautiful ladies to lunch."

"Yep!"

"What did you have in mind, Alex?" asked Belinda.

"I thought maybe ‘The Boheme’. I’d like to see the new artwork they have."

Belinda raised her eyebrows at the suggestion. Maybe there was more to this young man than the glitz and glamour of being a pop star. He definitely had good taste in women if she did say so herself.

"Alex, that’s way too expensive," protested Andi.

"Baby, stop worrying about it. I’ve got it."

"It’s been a while since I’ve been there. I’d like to see what they’ve done to the place," offered Belinda. "I’ll meet you two there."

"HOLD ON! You two are dressed for it but I’m NOT!"

"Got you covered…in more ways than one. We’ll swing by my house so you can change." Andi started to protest but AJ silenced her. "NO ARGUMENTS!"

"Yes, dear," shot Andi sassily giving AJ a quick kiss.

AJ laughed, "Come on, woman. Let’s go."

Belinda had witnessed the exchange and was intrigued. They’d only known each other a week yet they interacted as if they’d been married for some time. Maybe love at first sight did happen but how long could it last?

Andi and AJ had started to the parking lot when they realized that Belinda wasn’t with them. Turning around, Andi called, "Mom, you coming?"

"Right behind you, Andi," she smiled following the couple.
