Part 13
The next morning, Stormy woke to find AJ staring at her. The look in his eyes…she’d seen that sadness when he’d told her about the death of his grandmother. It was the sadness she had felt for nearly fifteen years and she wondered what he was upset about. She placed her hand on his face, caressing his cheek.
AJ took her hand in his and kissed the palm. "We’re gonna hang out here today, baby. I just want to be with you and hold you."
The sadness in his eyes seeped into his voice and she suddenly had a bad feeling. She had to get him to smile, to not think about whatever it was that had him upset. Pulling her hand away, she ran it across his bare chest playing with his chest hair, teasing his nipples until they were hard pebbles.
"Oh god…you’re touch is so soft," gasped AJ.
She moved her hands slowly down his stomach letting her fingers run lightly across his skin as she moved in to place small kisses along his collarbone. Reaching his ‘69’ tat, she traced it and smiled when he grasped her hand to stop her.
Looking her in the eyes, he saw her heart. He could see that she wanted to do this, to be with him, to please him in every way. He wanted it too and rolled her on her back, covering her body with his own as he placed his lips on hers. Slowly caressing them open with his own, he dipped his tongue in to taste her and felt the rush of blood to his already hardening cock. His hands tangled in her hair holding her like she was going to run away because that was how he felt. If he didn’t make love to her now, she was going to walk out that door and he’d never have her back but he’d made himself a promise.
Pulling back, he looked into her eyes. "I want to make love to you but I can’t."
Stormy looked puzzled.
"I made myself a promise not to…" AJ realized that if he told her the real reason, he’d push her into something she might not be ready for. "I made myself a promise not to rush into anything again…like I did with Sarah. I don’t want to screw up another relationship."
Stormy’s eyes softened as she listened to him. She knew that there was more to why he didn’t want to make love just yet but how was she going to get him to tell her. She could ask…but there was her promise.
Before either could do anything, the phone rang and AJ reached to answer it still holding on to Stormy. “Hello.”
“Alex…this is Dr. Troy. We’re in Orlando, at the airport. We’ll see you soon.”
“Uh, okay,” looking at Stormy beside him, “we’ll be here.”
AJ hung up the phone and lay back covering his eyes with his hand. He’d hoped to have at least the morning with her but that didn’t appear to be the case. By lunch, he’d be alone again.
Whatever was bothering him earlier must be connected to the phone call. Looks like I’m gonna find out what the problem is. He definitely doesn’t look like he wants whoever it was to show up. Stormy watched AJ and when she saw tears on his cheeks, she wiped them away.
AJ moved his hands to look at her and he could see she wanted to make it better. How did he tell her the only way she could make it better was for her to give up her family who obviously loved her very much?
Sadly, he said, “Why don’t you go get a shower? We have company coming.”
She didn’t protest or question him. She simply did as he suggested and went to get a shower.
As he lay in bed thinking about Stormy, the phone rang. “Yeah,” he answered gruffly.
“Well good morning to you too, sunshine,” teased Howie. “I take it you saw the news last night?”
“And made the call. Her father will be here in about 30 minutes.”
“No wonder you’re in such a grouchy mood. I’d have thought you’d use it to your advantage.”
“Don’t be crude!! I love her, Howie, and I don’t want her to walk out of my life as quickly as she walked in it.”
“Have you told her how you feel?”
“I don’t want to pressure her.”
“You aren’t pressuring her by telling her how you feel.”
“And what if she doesn’t feel the same for me?”
“Take the chance. I think you’ll be surprised.”
“I don’t know.”
“Look, call me later….let me know what happens.”
“Howie?”
“Yeah, ‘J’.”
“Come by here? I don’t want to be alone after she leaves.”
“Sure…I’ll be there in about an hour. Hey, it’s gonna be okay.”
“I hope you’re right, ‘D’….god, I hope you’re right. I'm not ready to have her walk out on me now.”
