Part 27
The club was packed with a line extending half a block with anxious wanna-be patrons but AJ had no problem getting in. He parked the rental car in the VIP parking lot and then circled around to help Stormy out. The second they reached the door, the manager was there to greet him happily ushering the couple into the club.
With his arm around Stormy’s waist, AJ led her through the crowd headed to the VIP section where Howie was waiting for them. There was someone at just about every table who knew AJ and wanted to talk to him whether they were fans or acquaintances. AJ obliged most of them making sure to introduce ‘Stormy’ and taking great pride in announcing that she was his girlfriend. Some of the women simply glared at her but she ignored them. Most of the people were extremely friendly to her.
Reaching their table, Howie greeted them happily and introduced Stormy to Kryss and Pollyanna. Before AJ and Stormy could get settled though, Kryss pulled Stormy with her and the two headed to the restroom.
"How did dinner go?" asked Howie as AJ sat down.
"It was awesome, ‘D’. She said ‘yes’ and we are going steady," beamed AJ.
Seeing AJ so happy, Howie said, "I’m really happy for you. You do know Sarah is here?"
"Yeah, I saw her as we came through the club."
"Are you worried?"
"A little. Stormy is VERY aware of my feelings for her and she was cool with the possibility that Sarah would be here. Honestly, I get the impression that if confronted by Sarah, Stormy is gonna be able to handle her without any problems but I don’t want to have to find out."
Meanwhile, in the restroom, Kryss said, "You know Sarah is here?"
"No, but AJ told me she might be."
"What are you going to do if she throws herself at AJ?"
"Let him handle it. Alex made it quite clear that he is NOT interested in her."
Kryss and Stormy continued to chatter away getting to know each other as they waited their turn to use the restroom.
As Stormy was about to step out to wait for Kryss, she bumped into a shapely brunette who was surrounded by a group of women. "Excuse me," she apologized knowing full well who the woman was.
"Well, well…it’s the toy of the week," snarked the brunette sending her ‘gang’ into a fit of giggles. They didn’t move for Stormy though but continued to block her way out.
"I said excuse me. My friend is waiting for me," repeated Stormy looking the brunette in the eye.
"Friend? Oh, would that be AJ? You know, you’re just a toy to him. You’ll NEVER be able to hold on to him. AJ is like a little kid who sees a toy and stops at nothing until he gets it. Once he does, he plays with it for a little while and then dumps it for something more exciting."
"And I suppose you think you’re going to be that something more exciting?" asked Stormy.
"I KNOW I’m that something more exciting."
"That’s funny. If you WERE, then why did he leave you? Now, I would like to get through," stated Stormy firmly.
“He didn’t leave me…I dumped him.”
“And that’s why you begged him to come home last week?”
Sarah wasn’t going to back down. "You know, I’m a little surprised that AJ is with you. You’re NOT his type."
From behind Stormy, Kryss said, "Yeah, she’s not as trashy as the other women he’s dated. Let us through before I call security."
The gang of women parted allowing Stormy through and they watched as the two headed back to where AJ and Howie were waiting for them.
AJ stood to greet Stormy and caught sight of Sarah watching them. "Are you okay?" he asked with concern.
"Why wouldn’t I be?" asked Stormy as she put her hand on his stomach and stood on her tiptoes to give him a kiss.
"Did Sarah say something to you?"
"Yeah."
"Well?"
“Dance with me, Alex,” she said hearing a slow song starting. Stormy took AJ’s hand and didn’t give him time to protest as she pulled him to the dance floor completely aware of the eyes that were watching them. Putting her arms around his neck, she looked into his eyes, “Show me you’re as good a dancer as you appear to be.”
Taking her in his arms, he held her close. “You aren’t getting out of this THAT easily.”
“Just dance with me and look like you’re enjoying it.”
Feeling her body moving with his, he pulled her even tighter and whispered, “I don’t have to pretend. You feel so good next to me. I just wish there weren’t any clothes between us.”
Stormy ran her fingers through the curls at the back of his head. “That’ll happen soon enough, Alex…I promise,” she whispered against his skin.
“Tell me what she said to you.”
“Why? It’s just gonna make you mad and she didn’t upset me.”
“Because I need to know.”
As they moved to the rhythm of the music, Stormy told him about the exchange. She could tell he was getting angrier by the way he was holding her. “Alex, don’t let her get to you like this. Tonight is supposed to be about us. You asked me to be your girl and I said ‘yes’. That’s all that matters.”
“I shouldn’t have brought you here!” he said angrily.
“Why? Because she’s here? That’s ridiculous, Alex. You enjoy coming here and you shouldn’t let her stop you. Look at me,” she commanded. Alex lifted his head to look at her. “I’m okay. She didn’t hurt me or upset me so let it go.”
AJ softened as he looked into her eyes. “You really are okay?”
“Yes!!” reassured Stormy. “Alex, she’s trying to get to you and if you get angry, she’s succeeding. Don’t give her that satisfaction OR that power over you.”
“Ya know, for someone who’s never had a relationship, you’re pretty damn smart.”
Stormy laughed, “Not talking for fifteen years, you tend to hear and see A LOT.”
“I bet. You do know you’re NOT a toy to me?”
“Yeah, I do.”
The rest of the evening went smoothly without any more encounters with Sarah. She continued to do her best to get AJ’s attention but he ignored her focusing completely on Stormy.
