Vassa Acres

Vassa Acres started out as a small farm located in West Bend, WI. It's founder Greg P. had a few horses he'd purchased as a hobby to begin with. He was active in cutting and reining and horses became his passion. In time he acquired Stormy, an Arabian cross he later bred to Rosie a Leopard Appaloosa, and Dandy a Paint. Their foals were beautiful!

Later on he began dating a long time horse lover named Bonnie Rosemeck. Bonnie had never had the opportunity for a lot of equine interaction until she met Greg. Now she is a certified Equine Appraiser and he is a bona fide Horse Breeder. Together they make an outstanding team; no one knows horseflesh better than these two.

Bonnie's daughter was away serving her country in the Navy when the two met. After being Honorably Discharged, Carrie came home to WI and was introduced to Greg and his horses. Having always been an avid reader, some of her favorite childhood novels were the Black Stallion novels written by Walter Farley. She'd always dreamt of having a magnificent black stallion to call her own but never knew anyone with the know-how of the horse world. She was delighted to become a part of what would later be known as "Vassa Acres".

In the summer of 1999 the trio was at the WI State Fair where they fell in love with a 6 month old Percheron Stallion named Blooming Prairie Tiggre. Together they purchased the stallion and waited eagerly until he would be of age for breeding. Their goal - Percheron Crosses and Spotted Draft Horses.

They knew the size of the draft and the flashy markings of the Paint or Appaloosa would be in high demand and they were correct!

Unhappy with extreme temperatures and insane land taxes in Wisconsin, Greg and Bonnie headed south to warmer pastures.

They purchased 51 acres in 2000 and then an additional 180 acres in 2001. The horses spend the winters in Arkansas and the summers in Wisconsin where Carrie opted to remain.

On September 20, 2003 Carrie married a wonderful man named Zach.
