Connor wasted no time in returning to the hotel. He hadn't planned on running into Spike in the bar, he was just going to shoot some pool. Maybe make a few bucks. When he saw the Vampire at the bar he figured it was a public enough place to talk to him. Plus it was still sunny out so he could always run outside if necessary. He wasn't as bad to be around as he thought he might be, but the woman was disturbing. She knew about him, how much he wasn't sure but he bet his dad would want to know who Spike's friend was.
Angel looked up from the file he was reading when Connor let himself into his office. This was unusual in itself as Connor rarely disturbed him during work hours. "What's going on?" Connor sat in the chair opposite Angel and collected his thoughts. "It's about Spike. I sorta ran into him at that bar where I play pool sometimes. We talked." Angel could just imagine the things that Spike had probably told him. He had hoped that Connor would come to terms with his Vampiric nature by now. "What did you talk about?" "Not a whole lot actually, he was asking about who my mother was. He thought it was Cordelia. I told him that her name was Darla and that she'd killed herself to save me. He seemed shocked." Angel was truly puzzled now. He didn't know why Spike had taken such a sudden interest in his son. "That would be because Spike knows how I felt about Darla, She made me a Vampire, once I got my soul things changed. I wasn't who I used to be anymore. I didn't like her much anymore, it would be a safe bet to say I hated her."
"Oh. Okay, anyways, then this woman comes in and sits at the bar next to Spike. He introduces us and tells her that I'm yours and Darla's human child and she gets all pale and then says 'the child of prophecy'. They stare at each other strangely and I got the hell out of there." Now Angel was very concerned. Who was this woman? Surely not the master who had claimed Spike? Wouldn't he have felt her? Then again he didn't detect Spike this time either. Something strange was going on. "Did Spike or this woman tell you her name?" "No, he introduced her as Raven, but she looked at him strangely so that couldn't be her name." "What did she look like?" Connor closed his eyes and tried to recall her exact image. "Black hair, shoulder length. Blue business suit, short skirt. Nice legs. Tall, thin, pale complexion. Oh and blue eyes. She wasn't a Vampire either, I asked." She didn't sound familiar. Sort of reminded him of Lilah but the hair was all wrong. And she knew who he was, more importantly she knew who Darla was as well. "Call Cordy and Wes in here would you? I'm going to page Gunn and Fred."
It was approximately 45 minutes since Willow left the office of Lilah
Morgan when Spike's cell phone rang. Spike jumped seeing as Willow was
the only person who ever called him on it and she was sitting beside
him. "'Ello?" "This is Lilah Morgan, I was given this number to
call..." "Hang on." Spike covered the phone and told Willow who it
was, she took the phone and smiled at Spike. "Ms Morgan. I assume
you've reached a decision?" There was a slight pause on the other end.
"Yes. The senior partners have agreed to your terms. You may stop by
my office at your convenience to pick up your payment." "I'll be
there in an hour." Willow hung up and turned to face Spike. "They've
agreed. By the end of the week my plans will be set in motion. It's
really to bad about Connor though. He seems like a nice kid." Spike
shrugged his shoulders. "Yeah, Angelus will probably kill him. The
Poof too. Although knowing Angelus he'll make Soul boy watch as he
drains the boy and then he'll let him live. Enjoys the torture." They
sat in the bar and waited as the sky darkened, as soon as the sun set
they would head out to pick up the book.
