Part 24

Spike woke to a warm body pressed against him. "Mmm, pet is that you?" He heard a soft feminine laugh and then willow answered. "It had better be, or I'd have to punish you for being in bed with another woman. Spike chuckled and opened his eyes. He turned his head toward her. "Why would I ever do that when I've got everything I want right here?" It must have been the right answer because he suddenly found himself unrestrained and pulled into a warm embrace from his Mate. He held her tight to his chest and whispered in her ear. "I love you." He was rewarded with a gentle kiss and an whispered reply of the same words.

Buffy was pulled out of her self induced delusions by the feel of something terribly familiar. She looked around and once again took in her surroundings. She was still in the cell she had been in for longer than she could remember. Only thing was she wasn't alone anymore. She immediately panicked thinking that Willow had come to torture her some more but then realized that it was a Vampire she was sensing. She looked across the cell and saw a large form lying on the floor. She couldn't make out much detail in the lightless room so she carefully crept closer. She looked down on the man on the floor, recognition hit her instantly. "Oh my God. Angel!" The man on the floor opened one eye and looked up at her cautiously. "Not quite lover, but close." Buffy backed away quickly and screamed.

"I've found it!" Wesley shouted across the hotel lobby. Everyone looked up from their own research to see what he was talking about. "I've found the spell that will allow us to teleport into Sunnydale without setting off any mystical warning systems. It's actually quite a simple spell, I'm surprised I didn't think of it earlier...." Cordelia interrupted him. "Get on with it Wes! What do you need to perform the spell and how long until we can do it?" Giles looked at the book from over Wesley's shoulder and made a few 'hmm' sounds. Wesley looked back at him and he gave him a sheepish grin. "Terribly sorry, carry on then." Wesley cleared his throat and continued. "Uh, the actual spell won't take long to perform at all, it's the ingredients it requires that may take some time procuring. Some of it is rather rare." Cordelia gave him a 'well get on with it' look and Wesley made a list before handing it to her. "Fine. I'll go see about filling this shopping list while the rest of you continue to look for a way to stop Willow once we get there. Oh, and Angelus as well. Gee, I never thought I'd forget about Angelus being a threat." She shook her head sadly at the thought of sweet innocent Willow being a bigger threat to them than Angelus.

"What did you do with the wanker, luv?" Spike asked his Mate as he held her close. She looked up at him and smiled. "I just left him to get reacquainted with an old friend." Spike mulled over her words for a minute before stiffening up in outrage. "The Slayer!?! You put him in with the Slayer? What, he gets to kill her, that's his punishment for trying to take me from you? Hardly seems fair." He trailed off when he heard her laughter. "No love. He won't kill her, actually he can't kill her. I made it so he would suffer a brain frying headache if he tries to hurt Buffy. He can't hit her, bite her, or even say a nasty thing about her without setting it off. Similar to your chip but worse and done with magic, so there's nothing to take out. Imagine Spike, locked in a tiny room with the bane of your existence, all that powerful blood, no one else to eat. How long do you think it will take before he goes crazy from the pain?" Spike was once again glad that he was not her enemy. He would stake himself willingly before going against her, ever. He just swallowed hard and gave her a queasy smile.

Connor was worried about his father. He was human now and weaker than before. He knew that he couldn't stop him from going to Sunnydale with the others but he wished he could. Angelus was loose, not only loose but apparently not crazy and in the employ of a powerful Witch with a personal grudge against his family and friends. He had hoped to never actually meet the demon that resided in his fathers body face to face. Unfortunately it looked as though he would be meeting up with him very soon. He would be lying if he said he wasn't afraid. His father and Holtz both had told him many stories about what Angelus was like.

It was several hours later when Cordelia came back to the hotel with the supplies for the spell. Everyone armed themselves for battle before Wesley and Rupert cast the spell. Fred and the two ex Watchers would not be going to Sunnydale with the others. Angel tried to talk Connor into staying behind with the others but when it was pointed out to him that his son was physically stronger and faster than he now was he relented and merely told the boy to be careful. The plan was to get into Sunnydale, find out where Willow and Spike were keeping Angelus and bring the three of them back to LA. They weren't quite sure how they were going to do that yet but that was the plan.
