Part 4

Spike woke up early in the afternoon, he needed some time to pack a few things before heading to LA. He threw some clothes in his duffle bag and rifled through his CD collection. After selecting a few to take with him his went in search of his Witch to say goodbye.

He found her in her study sitting at her computer. She wasn't even aware that he'd stepped into the room yet. He watched her for a few minutes as she typed and clicked away at the mouse. She suddenly got an angry look on her face and her eyes flashed red. She looked up and saw him standing in the doorway. Her statement softened and her eyes returned to the brilliant green that he loved. "How long you been spying on me?" He chuckled at her. "Not long luv, just enough to know that something’s got you ticked. Anything I can do? Kill someone for ya?"

"Don't look so hopeful!" She joked. "No seriously, it's nothing major. I was trying to find a certain book of spells that 's supposedly lost for all time. I heard some law firm has it. I've been trying to hack their system for a week now and can't find a way in yet. It's just pissing me off." Spike nodded. "I see, well since hacking isn't my strong suit I'll leave you to it. You'll get in eventually luv, you always do." She smiled. "Thanks Spike. So when are you taking off?" "Soon, I actually came in to say goodbye." Willow got up and walked toward him, he met her halfway and pulled her into his arms. He kissed her softly and then stepped back. "Don't stay away too long." He kissed her again. "Not from you luv." He turned and left the apartment.

Spike took the elevator down to the parking garage. He smiled when he looked at his car. A brand new Corvette Coupe in 'Metallic Red' with a black leather interior. Willow had gotten it for him after they'd been together a few weeks. It was a real beauty, tinted windows, CD player and speakers wired throughout. It was the nicest thing anyone had ever given him. He loved this car, he didn't miss the Desoto at all. Well maybe a little bit, he had a great history with it and you could stuff up to four bodies in the trunk depending on their size. He slid behind the wheel and started the car, he loved the way it purred. He put it in gear and drove out into the late California afternoon. The windows were magically enhanced as well as tinted so he had no reason to fear the sun.

He headed for the highway and LA. He was still unsure as to what he was going to do in LA now that he couldn't torture Angel about Slutty's death. Oh well, at least he'd be able to get in some violence in a city that big. Had to be someone who didn't know who his woman was. At the very least he'd be able to go a few rounds with Peaches.

Willow watched from the window as Spike drove away. He loved that car. She remembered the day she gave it to him. He was moping around the apartment waiting for the sun to go down so he could go out. He complained about the fact that all he had for transportation now was his motorcycle. Not that he didn't like it but at least when he still had the Desoto he could go out in the daytime that and Willow wouldn't get on a motorcycle for anything. She laughed at him and told him that she wouldn't be caught dead in that car, and that if he expected her to go anywhere in public with him then he needed to get a nice car. He asked her what kind of car she would deem fit for her 'high and mighty ass' to sit in so she took him down to the parking garage and showed him the Vette.

She watched him as he circled the car slowly. He whistled in appreciation, looking in through the windows and running his hands along the curves of the car. He'd had it in mind to go out that night and steal one that looked as close as he could find when she threw the keys at him. He stood there, baffled until she smiled and told him it was his. Then he jumped across the car, grabbed her and spun her around until she was dizzy. They drove around for hours that first day, he was like a kid with a new toy.

Spike knew that she had enchanted the windows on the car so that he wouldn't burn. He didn't know that she'd also put a protection spell on it for him. This way if he got into a wreck he wouldn't be hurt and she wouldn't have to worry about him. It was the best she could do until she found the spell to make him immortal.

She turned her thoughts back to the business at hand. The missing spell book and the law firm that supposedly has it. She needed that book, all her plans for Angel depended on her getting her hands on that book. She was considering just going down there looking for it herself, but she didn't want to give away her presence just yet. If she so much as stepped into LA Angel would be able to feel her power, and he would come looking for her. So for now she did what she could to get the information she needed from Sunnydale. But soon Angel would no longer be a problem. Then she would expand her operation to LA. After all, there was so much more to do in a big city.
