Love is the purist of God’s gift to man. Or the Universe’s gift. Or Fate’s gift. Whatever you personally may prefer.
Humans are frail, weak creatures who have instincts and desires they spend most of their lives resisting. But why? For good? The idea of being a good person? A pure person? Maybe several hundred years ago, yes, this would be true. But now? No.
Now we are coached, from birth, that yes there are certain desires we must resist, such as killing someone, but only because that interferes with that particular person’s chance to be “happy”. But what is happiness? To most people, it is feeding those very desires and instincts they are first taught (we hope) to resist. And why shouldn’t we? Because there happen to be several books that tell us the vices and corruptions of man all list the same things but somehow they’re wrong? Simply because what goes along with believing them is being religious and believing in God, or at least some kind of higher power? Why must this be the case?
There needs to be a new religion. One that explains the vices of man and tells why they are vices, and why we should resist them not for reasons of faith, but for reasons of logic. Because today, here and now, it is the mind that rules our society. If we can argue something, find a way around it, find reasons to doubt even a small bit of it, we won’t believe it. But these things are logical, are true, and DO need to be resisted. Why?
Because humanity is quickly becoming a failed experiment. For hundreds of thousands of years, we have stood tall and survived the trials of ages because there were enough good people in the world to oppose any amount of evil. And yes, I will use the terms good and evil, as ambiguous as they may be. Because good is treating people fairly, with respect, with honor, no matter what they might appear to be. Evil is exploiting their weaknesses, judging them, and corrupting them.
But love is pure.
It is also the easiest gift to corrupt.
Everyone has been in love at least once in their lives. Everyone. And even if the person they loved did not love them back, they know what love is. The feeling we got when the person was around, how we thought about them when they weren’t. The way we would hang onto their every word, whether being obvious about it or trying to hide it. It was why we would wake up in the morning, and possibly why we continue to wake up, even after the love fades. But love can never disappear. And those people that have felt true love in their lives can remember it, and it keeps them pure. Purer than those that deny love, that call it overrated. All because humanity is becoming a failed experiment.
We used to applaud poets for describing love. Now we just call them sappy, and unoriginal. We used to fight great battles for love, or want of love, now we say it is best to forget love, and move on with our lives, because nothing is worth pulling out all the stops. The pain and bitter disappointment is not worth the potential rewards.
Hasn’t that become our anthem?
If it’s too hard to get, you shouldn’t want it. If you have to sacrifice to get it, it’s not worth it. We have been corrupted by our own desires and vices, that we can’t even tell the good from the bad any more. Humanity is failing, and no one is taking a stand.
It is time for a new religion. One that is truly dedicated to peace and explains why in a language that everyone can understand. Why should we have to understand just one language to believe that purity and kindness are the best of man’s attributes? Why can’t it be a language that would speak to everyone, in the current times?
It is just a shame that we are all so corrupted the old language no longer has an effect on us. Old things are always so much better than cheap new imitations. But if we must imitate, then so be it. This downfall must be stopped.
