Louis de Pointe du Lac was born on October 4, 1766 in France. The family moved to New Orleans when he was very young. There his father died, leaving Louis in charge of the plantations. When Louis’s brother Paul mysteriously dies, Louis blames himself. He spirals down a dark and miserable path, drinking and gambling, hoping to meet death. The vampire Lestat becomes spellbound with Louis and offers him the Dark Gift. Louis accepts. He and Lestat live together on Pointe du Lac plantation for three years together. When there is a slave rebellion, he and Lestat escape to New Orleans. He also unknowingly participated in Claudia’s first death. In 1862, after attempting Lestat’s murder, Louis and Claudia leave to travel the world in search of answers. The two arrive in Paris where Armand is taken with Louis. Claudia and Madeline are left in the sun to burn. Louis takes out his vengeance on the Theatre des Vampires and burns it to the ground, with all the vampires except Armand inside. After that he and Armand travel the world together. Louis and Armand drift apart. In 1972, Louis gives his story to the young reporter boy, Daniel Malloy. In 1984 he and Lestat are reunited. When Lestat comes to him in a mortal body for help, Louis refuses him. He was always there at Lestat’s side when he was comatose. Later on, he asks Merrick to rouse the spirit of Claudia. He makes Merrick into his fledgling and then he goes into the sun. However he is not destroyed and is brought back with the blood of Lestat, David and Merrick.*
