In 1994 Portrait Of An American Family was released and the band won several Slammie awards for best alternative band and had got Trent Reznor the front man for NIN interest. Marilyn Manson was the first signing to Trent Reznor's Nothing record labe. They became the support band for NIN. Chnages were then made by dropping the spokky kids name and replacing the drum machine with a drummer.

The bands first hit single was a cover version of Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics and was on the EP Smells Like Children and toured extenisively.
There next album Antichrist Superstar reached No.3 in America after eventually being released due to a long, agonising time. The band toured for almost two years and was very controversial due to rumours of self abuse and satanic activites.
