The VSL (Varsity Sports League) was named after a famous sports bar chain in Oklahoma City. The League was formed in 1989 for the operation of a fantasy baseball league. The league has always consisted of eight teams. 2002 is the first year teams are not limited to American League players. Each team may draft and have on their roster, up to three National League players. Every year a draft of players is held with each team able to carry over one player. The player can be carried over for two consecutive years, then must be placed back in the pool to be drafted. Each teams roster contains 25 active players. Up to three players may be placed on the IL (2, 10-Day and 1, 60-Day). Each year the Champion of the VSL is awarded the Commissioners' Cup.
