To the Newborn:

You're new to the game, but you don't yet have any special privelages. This is a guide written to help you familiarize yourself with your first few experiences in TeenRPG. It is in your best interest to read this, because in TeenRPG we develop reputations by first impression. Unfortunate, yes, though almost customary or traditional in the years this roleplay has existed. If you develop a bad habit from watching others without some of the general knowledge this guide can offer, you may find yourself in several situations where you cannot find roleplay because who you are as a player [though we take every possible precaution to prevent this]. Don't be afraid, though :) I want to welcome you to the community, and wish you the best of luck!

Finding TeenRPG - I suppose the greatest dilemma that any of our roleplayers face is the difficulty in finding the roleplay. TeenRPG is found in Yahoo! Chat's Teen section. Affectionately, and in character, we call this: Tenaria. Our roleplay is located in the User Rooms of the Teen section, and our most noticeable place is: The Vampire Tavern. Many of our players create private roleplaying rooms should they be out of the reach of a normal passerby, which is quite realistic. Mingle with the Taverngoers, some will be annoying and Out of Character yet many more ought to be roleplaying. Every once in awhile, other visible Roleplaying rooms will appear in the User Room's list so I urge you to be on the lookout for them. Large scale cities, when roleplayed in, are always Visible. Latch yourself onto someone, what you may learn from them could prove invaluable to your upcoming experiences.

Character Creation - You most likely already have a character created though I insist that you present it to the Forum Community. The best way to become swiftly initiated and labeled a 'Tenarian' is to make let people know who you are and who you play. Tenaria is a good RPG, but it is also a socialite masse. Be realistic in your character's creation. A character that is unduly strong in every aspect seems more unexciting with every passing moment. You should give your character life; merits and flaws that shape your character will prove far more enticing. See Rules for more on Character Creation.

Immortality and Godhood - In TeenRPG, immortality is only existing to the extent of avoiding death due to age. If your throat is torn wide, you will die... messily. A Vampire is the most immortal of any Kind Kind: Breed, Race, Specie, as it will survive through bludgeoning, bullets, and blades - lest you remove its head, put it to flames, the sun, and several other gruesome fashions of slaughter. AN Immortal dies, as does everything.

On a separate though similar retrospect, I begin on the subject of Godhood. Everywhere you will see someone claiming to be the God of Something, do not succumb, and kindly point that person to this website. The idea of a Deity is to drive the plot, they are not to interact, nor are they to be played. Before everyone's time a God was chosen for every aspect of the world, so there are none that can create a New God. Tenaria has several Deities that can be found in Oddities, these are the only exceptions to the rule: No Gods in TeenRPG. The term "Godlike Power" is altered incredibly, as Tenaria limits the Deities to an animal with no power... they are a figure, if they wish to interact, they are at the mercy of everything. Plot drivers, period.

Power Character - Any character who cannot be somehow ended by a Human

Auto-Hitting and Combat - Learn as many fashions of combat in Murdering as you can, the more skill you can muster the better off you are. Learn the fashions of combat before you decide to become Homicidal. All of the Yahoo! Based games have a term, it is the one "Law" that every game agrees on: No Auto-Hitting. An auto-hit occurs when a person doesn't understand or know the way we fight, don't call them names, they are new. Auto-Hit is described as: A successful attack that provides no chance for a player's reaction. For more on combat, see Murdering.
i.e...
Tusk punches you in the face.
This gives no preparation, no chance of defense, and frankly- it ultimately states that you are invulnerable... which are against the Gods/Immortal part slutted around just above this caption.

IC/OOC Abbreviations - "IC - In Character, this is when you are you stop being yourself and become your character. You do not live on earth, you live in wherever the Hell your character lives, no Real Life syndromes affect your character.
OOC - Out of Character is when you stop playing and you become a regular chatter. Regular chatters in Role Playing rooms are really annoying." Kyle. Red Tide Co. Owner

When you are roleplaying and you would like to make an O.O.C. comment, type /think Whatyou'dliketosayhere This creates a "Thought Bubble" from your username, and is the universal fashion of stating an O.O.C. comment. If the /think command is somehow down, use ((here)) for an O.O.C. comment.

When you are roleplaying, do not respond to an O.O.C. action or comment without using the /think command. Doing this is a horrible way to be seen, as reputations in TeenRPG build swiftly.

Familiarizing Yourself - Familiarize yourself with the aspects of Our World: Tenaria. This is easily accomplished by participating regularly on our Community Message Boards, and selectively reading through The TeenRPG Website. Knowledge often extends your potential, and therefore creates a more exciting or overwhelming experience.

If you have a question, don't be afraid to ask. The Forums are your weapon for seeking out explanations and definitions. If you have a question that is specific or personal, e-mail Praxi or another Staff Member and, confidentially, we'll help you out.

Fatigue and Wounds - Do not forget your character's limitations. If a battle draws out for long, your character will become fatigued or anxious. A wound will aggravate your character throughout the entire experience, despite how miniscule it may be. Every time you use magic, energy is spent, and with every ounce of magic used you will grow weaker physically until you have time to rest again. Healing cannot take place during battle unless you wish to spend a turn on it, which is usually unwise. Sometimes, a great amount of magic used will cause...

Death - Don't be afraid of losing a character, there are many more in your roleplay career than the current. Often you will see a character pulling a move straight from their arse to avoid a fatal blow, resorting to these tactics are a terrible way to end your scene. If you die, do it in a blaze of glory! Death scenes can define a player, they are fun to watch AND participate in. You always have another character.

If you are in a battle that ends in controversey; If your opponent and you cannot decide whether a hit has landed or not, or if a person should have been able to complete something in a given situation, then save the Transcript and post it at The Mortuary in The Forums. The battle will be judged there.

Every TeenRPG character is at the mercy of Baal_zaar, Yahoo! Chat's 'death', and if an incident occurs... well, we'll have it reap your character, and strip all possible legitimacy of your character's Life from argument.

Character Crossing - " Please don't character cross. Character Crossing is when you hear somthing wether it be OOC or as another character, then you give that information to a character you play. This is not allowd. If your character was not there to hear or see it, then she or he hasn't legally heard or seen it. This of course can alter, if one of your friends who was there IC tells one of your characters who is IC, then the exchange of information is legal and thus accepted. " -Kyle. Co. Owner of Red Tide
