After the Feds lost the war against alcohol, Alcohol Prohibition ended on December 5, 1933, when it was repealed. Three years later, the American Government found a new target: Hemp. Marijuana Prohibition became Law in 1937. This is a fact that I know to be uncommonly known. I ask a lot of people: "Do you know when Marijuana became illegal in the U.S.?" Most of them reply: "I don't think it was ever Legal." Why is this, you might ask. I'll tell you why the majority of the country, today, are so ignorant to this fact. It's because the Government (Local, State, and Federal) as a whole will not allow any reports to be released to the public,
regarding the true facts about the history, value, or politics of Marijuana to be published with any amount of credibility. Why would they do that, you ask? I find this to be self-evident. It is based on one thing: GREED. The U.S. Government is re-writing
History; or at least leaving some BIG parts
out.
The Oil Cartel, Paper, Pharmaceutical, Cotton, Tobacco, and Alcohol Industries were the main economic reasons behind the Prohibition. It was these Industries which stood to make the most profit from this inexpensive plant being out-lawed. President Herbert Hoover and "Commissioner of Narcotics", Harry Anslinger, both received tidy fortunes from William Randolf Hearst And Du-Pont Chemical Corporation to diligently pursue deceiving the American people into believing that there was something morally wrong with Hemp. These politically powerful individuals were the figure heads of the "smear campaign" against Marijuana. They accused this natural resource of being "demonic" in nature. They stated (with nothing whatsoever to back up their claims) that Marijuana is "physically addictive". Modern science has since disproven this common misconception. As with anything else, Marijuana may become "habit forming" if smoked on a daily basis. Habits require only WILL POWER to break. A person does not experience any physical withdrawl with the termination of Cannabis use. Any symptoms they may feel are 100% psychosomatic.
President Jimmy Carter made several political moves to try and repeal Marijuana Prohibition. And had it not been for the "Nancy Reagan Administration", things might have been different. Her "Just Say No"
campaign was just the kind of catchy brain-washing the Republicans needed to blow all of Carter's efforts out of the water. Or rather, to sink them. Think about it, if you tell the kids it's bad all their lives, it will be a little hard to convince them it's good by the time they're old enough to cast a vote, wouldn't you say? Historical amnesia is one of the most powerful tools of manipulation in politics today. And we need to inform the public of the Truth. It's time to take the blinders off, and give the people back their choice.

"There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the U.S, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing, result from marijuana usage. This marijuana causes white women to seek relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others." -Harry Anslinger, U.S. Commissioner of Narcotics, testifying to Congress on why Marijuana should be made illegal, 1937. (Marijuana Tax Stamp Act, signed Aug. 2, 1937; effective Oct. 1, 1937.)
To put it mildly...it is SHOCKING to see that this Racist's words are responsible for the past 60+ years of Marijuana Prohibition. And others like him, to have continued it to the present. The Republicans in power never seem to care about what their decisions will do to the people. They're just out to capitolize as profitably as possible. And the black market is certainly more lucrative than simply taxing it to death. And, just think of all the jails and prisons that can be filled with Marijuana sellers and users. And the fines! Oh boy, there's no greater business than the Judicial and Law enforcement. Statistically, 1 American is arrested every 45 seconds on Marijuana charges in the U.S..
Cannabis, Hemp, and Marijuana are the same. "Marijuana" was the Mexican name given to Cannabis. Marijuana was first cultivated in China around 4000 B.C.. The original drafts of the Declaration of Independence were written on Hemp paper. One acre of Hemp produces the same amount of paper as four acres of trees. Hemp is a source of fiber for cloth, and cordage for rope. The Hemp fiber is located inside the long stem of the plant. These are just a few uses Cannabis provides, out of the 50,000 known uses...from medicine to fuel. Cannabis Oil has been proven to cure Cancer (since 1974), among other things. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin all grew Hemp. Washington, America's first President, declared: "Make the most of the Hemp seed. Sow it everywhere." Hemp seed is nature's perfect food. The oil from Hemp seeds has the highest percentage of essential fatty acids and the lowest percentage of saturated fats. Sterilized Hemp seed is commonly sold as bird seed. Rolling papers, like Bambu, are made from Hemp paper. In 1942, during W.W. II, the U.S. Department of Agriculture released the film: 'Hemp for Victory', which encouraged American farmers to grow Hemp for the war effort. That's 5 years AFTER it was made illegal to do so. Hemp is cultivated all over the world. Today, Austria, Australia, Canada, Chile, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Korea, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and the Ukraine are among the larger countries that grow Hemp LEGALLY for a variety of uses.
Cannabis is classified as a "Schedule 1 drug" by the F.D.A. (Food & Drug Administration). Designated as a narcotic, it cannot be "legally" prescribed by a physician to patients. It is, however, prescribed to quite a number of Americans. In 1988, the D.E.A.'s own administrative Law Judge (Drug Enforcement Agency) concluded that:"Marijuana is one of the safest, therapeutically active substances known to man." Marijuana is used as a medicine to treat nausea, pain and muscle spasms. It alleviates symptoms of Glaucoma, Multiple Sclerosis, AIDS, Cancer victims in Chemotherapy, Migraines and many other debilitating ailments. Thirty-five
states have passed legislation permitting medical use of Marijuana (with a prescription). However, since Marijuana Prohibition is Federal, people continue to go to jail. In 1997, over 695,200 Americans were arrested on Marijuana charges. 87% were for possession of amounts from a joint to 1 ounce. 13% were for selling, manufacturing, growing. More than 400,000 Americans DIE from diseases
related to Tobacco smoking each year. More than 150,000 Americans DIE from Alcohol abuse each year. More than 27,000 Americans DIE from Legal prescription drug over-doses each year. More than 5,200 Americans DIE from Illegal drug over-doses each year. But in over 6,000 years of known usage, no one has ever died from the use of Marijuana.
