Webster Electric PA Amplifiers

I have received many responses regarding Webster amplifiers. Several have written and told me that they have Webster Electric amplifiers and haven't been able to find any information on them. These amplifiers were available in several different designs. All of them are quite interesting. The Webster Electric Company products were manufactured in Racine WI.

Below is the original schematic and pictures of the Webster 95B25 amplifier. It was the first Webster I acquired. Year model is circa 1950.

Any selenium bias rectifiers will fail in older amplifiers like these and should be replaced along with the coupling and filter capacitors. This shouldn't be ignored as failure in the bias circuit will eliminate all bias and uncontrolled current will flow in the output stage.

In the summer of 2001 I purchased a Webster model 81B15 PA amp from a gentleman who was considering converting the amp into a guitar amplifier but decided it would be a waste to destroy the original circuit so he sold it to me. Thank you Brian M. The amp uses 6V6 output tubes to present 15 watts of power. Here is the schematic and some photos.

In the spring of 2002 I purchased a Webster model TP45 PA amp which came out of a school library. The amp was installed new in 1966 when the library was built but was removed when the library was recently renovated and updated with more modern equipment. Thank you Brian B. for selling it to me. The amp uses 6L6GC output tubes and delivers 45 watts of music power. I believe all the tubes are original as the 6L6GCs and the 6CG7s say "Webster" on them and the EF86/6267s all say "Amperex." The amplifier is a very different design in comparison to the earlier Websters but it is quite beautiful to my eye. I did not have to replace any components in this amplifier. It worked fine as I received it. schematic
