Alan says "Welcome"
Hello, We are Alan and Marge Rich from Lunenburg Vermont.
NOTE:These pages are pretty graphic intensive. Loading takes a while, and if the pictures don't all load the first time, they will load properly if you just hit "refresh". Thanks.
The Mount Orne Bridge in Lunenburg spans the Connecticut River into Lancaster, New Hampshire
It is a Howe Truss type bridge that is 267 feet long, and 20 feet wide. It was built by Charles Babbitt in 1911, to replace a toll bridge that was destroyed by a log jam in 1908. From 1908 until the bridge was built in 1911, a ferry was used to connect Lancaster NH with Lunenburg VT
Our town is in the Northeastern part of Vermont, in the Heart of the Green Mountains, The Northeast Kingdom, as it is called.
We're just across the Connecticut River from New Hampshire. It's quite tiny here, with a population of 1176 folks.
We own an old farmhouse with ten acres on a "dirt" road, and can't see our neighbors for the trees. We do however see deer, moose, bear, coyote, and the other "critters" of the woods frequently in the front or backyard.

We have four very distinct seasons here in the North Country...Mud (spring), Black Fly (summer), Leaf Peepers (fall),and Cold (winter). Spring lasts about a month, summer about three weeks, fall, another month, and the rest is winter! It's quite a trick to grow a garden, but we have managed to put in some nice flowers over the years. Vegetables are usually harvested early (because of the frost), and ripened indoors!
Alan and I have known each other since we were in the first grade together, and have been married for thirty four years. He's a great guy! He'd have to be to put up with me for this long!We have three grown children that all live close enough to us that we get to see them often. Lorianna is 33 and has three children. Wendy is 31 and has two children, and Christopher is 29 and has a little girl.>
We have a '52 Buick Roadmaster that we thoroughly enjoy during the summer months. We are part of The Caledonia Classics Auto Club, and along with our friends, take our cars on "cruises" all over the north country. It's a lot of fun.

WE HAVE A NEW GRANDDAUGHTER!!!
Chris and Pixie gave us a new baby girl for Christmas! Eco Noelle Rich was born at noon time on Christmas day, weighing 4lb 9oz, and was 17 inches long. She was about three weeks early, but there was not one problem with this beautiful little girl. How blessed we are! To see more pictures of our little doll, look in the Family Photo section.
