My Life with Cystic Fibrosis

My Life with Cystic Fibrosis, Now I'm Three!

So, now I'm three! I'm a lot taller, a lot smarter, and still doing very well!

Here I am with my Dad, Andy, my Mom, Wendy, and my big brother Nick, just before my third birthday.

Well now, there's quite a story that goes with this picture. By the way, I don't feel as miserable as I look here! You see, I had decided that I wanted to look like a movie star. My brother wanted to know what I would do to look like a movie star, so I told him I would like to cut my hair. He was gracious enough to offer to do it for me, so I said "Sure, let's do it!" Poor Nick had to go through a lot to get those scissors Mom keeps for hair cutting. He had to climb way to the top of the cupboard, and it's high! Then he had to open that little box Mom keeps the scissors in, and get back down with them. I was very patient while he did all this. So then we cut my hair. By the way, Mom had gone upstairs to change the beds, so we were going to surprise her! After he got all the long hair cut off, he got me a mirror so I could see. I loved it!!! Because Nick is five, and a lot smarter than me, he said we had to clean up all the mess, and put the scissors back. I let him do it all, because, after all, he is the smart one. Then we went upstairs to surprise Mom. WOW was she ever surprised!! She sort of sat down on the floor really fast, I think it was to get a better look at my new hair cut. Then she kind of didn't do anything but look at me...then she started to cry. She was so happy with my new hair cut....I think. Well, Nick lost his television privilege for a whole week! I think it was because he wasn't supposed to have climbed up there to get the scissors...Mom is really touchy about those scissors! Anyway, Mom cried for quite a while, but she did say I looked like a movie star now, and when Dad got home he thought so too. He did take Nick for a long walk that day though. So now my hair is still growing, but it's kind of slow. Mom keeps saying she would like it if I had a little hair again soon, but I'm still happy with my new hair cut.

Here's Nick and I in our Easter bonnets, on the way to the Easter Parade in our town. Everybody won prizes for their Easter bonnets, and I got to meet the Easter Bunny!

I'm having my nebulizer treatment outside, on my Grammy's porch. It only takes a little while, then I can get back to my playing.

Just hanging out on Grammy's steps, in the sunshine.

Every year we have a Great Strides Walk to Cure Cystic Fibrosis, in my town. Here are some pictures of us in the walk we had this year.

There I am right in front with brother Nick, and my cousin Neal. Mom and Dad, Grammy and Great Grampa, my Aunties, and lots of other folks who came to walk for us.

Here we are walking...well, I'm riding on Dad's shoulders, but if you look closely, you'll see my friend Madison is riding on her Dad's shoulders too! My Auntie Julie is walking with us here, and my Great Grandpa...he's the one with the cane. I don't think he would mind my telling you that he's 78 years old, and walked the whole way. I'm very proud of him!!

More walking, this time with Mom and Dad and my cousin Tara.

Here I am with my Mom.

Two Lilies. Me and my Great Grammy Lily. This was the best donut!

My Auntie Lori and I. She's my Mom's big sister, and she got $340 in pledges all by herself, for her walk! Wow, that's a lot of money!!

After the walk, we all got to relax a bit. Here I am with my Auntie Julie pushing me on the swing. I know what a lucky little girl I am to have all these wonderful people that love me, and I thank everyone for all their hard work for our walk this year. We earned more than $5000!! Now, that's a lot of money!!

Summertime in Grammy's garden. This is the lily garden, with Nick, and our friend James.

Just me.

I did have a little help with the carving, but the design is my own. Me and my Jack-O-Lantern.

Now I'm Four!

Come and see what's new with me, Now that I'm Four.
