How you could handle Suicide threats:
1) Is it REAL ? Do they sound serious ?
2) Use the S.A.L. method for evaluating:
S - Specific Plan - Do they have one ?
A - Availablity - Do they have the means available to follow through ?
L - Lethality - Is their plan actually lethal ?
3) What to do :
* Help them to focus on previous strengths and accomplishments, they are loved
by SOMEONE.
* Relate good things from the reading showing in their future.
* Give them hope, listen, understand, CARE.
