She watched the sun set while perched on the rooftop. Her thoughts were dark as the blanket of night that was creeping over the little seaside town:
"Only one kind of creature can jump and fight like that and require sustenance- one made by Von Reichter. Maybe he does know that I am alive after all. She may be a droid with the orders to hunt me down and eliminate me."
She shifted moodily. "But what if a Cyber had escaped? She could move like me, fight like me, run like me... what if there was someone else, like Grandmama? No, it couldn't be. I saw with my own eyes the deaths of the Cybers...I felt it too, because I was there. Pain....no little girl could have survived that..." She flinched at her memories. "I didn't."
"And Grandmama said she was the only person to know the secrets of sustenance besides Von Reichter. This thing...it must be under the control of Von Reichter. So is that cat... I recognize it... Data 7." She glared murderously at the moon. "Yes, I remember the stories well. Von Reichter's personal pet, a creature with the strength of a panther and the mind of a human. It might even have been the mind of a Cyber. Great...just great....not only does Von Reichter know that I'm alive, he sends two units after me.... and they're definite improvements over the Fixed Ideas."
She gripped her arms. "I'm not at full strength, because I cut down on my sustenance feedings. But that little boy's sustenance did wonders... I wonder where he got it? Never mind... I'm just glad he did, because I'll need my strength to kill these creatures... before they kill me."
She stood up. "I'll find you," she swore, "I'll hunt you down. I'll kill each and every one of your damned creations, bastard, just like you killed Marryn!"
"There you are!"
She whirled around. It was the woman, and the cat.
Perfect timing, she thought, smiling. She narrowed her eyes.
