Hue Festival Schedule Launched
The Ministry of Culture and
Information, the Vietnam Tourism Department, the People’s Committee of
Thua Thien-Hue province and the French Embassy in Vietnam held a programme
to launch the schedule of the Hue Festival in Hanoi on January 14.
With the participation of art
ensembles from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Bac Ninh and three French troupes
with 120 artists from April 8-19, it will be the biggest cultural event ever
held in the ancient city of Hue.
The opening night entitled ‘The
Ancient Royal City’s Night’ will be held at Ngo Mon (the Southern Gate
of the Royal Palace) square and the closing night, entitled ‘Huong River’s
night of Lights’ will be held at Dai Noi (the Royal Palace). The festival
will feature cultural activities including songs, dances, circuses, fashion
shows, boat racing, and photo exhibitions on Hue and the foods.
Tours to where President Ho Chi
Minh used to live, the gardens along the Huong River banks and the national
garden of Bac Ma will be organised. The festival organisers estimate there
will be 15,000-20,000 visitors at the festival.
