Pachmarhi on his hunting expeditions, as well as the 'Korkus' the tribals living there...
What To See
Silver Falls A beautiful panromic spectacle of slivery waters gushing 700 feet down below in a pool surrounded by dense pristine forests in the valley bottom.
Handi Khoh or a deep valley between the old mountains covered with dense vegetation.Years of erosion and land upheavel has given birth to this beautiful valley.As you stand on the edge your gaze settles on the deep
seemingly bottomless pit between the rift formed by the mountains .
The experience is both soothing and thrilling.
Jata Shankar :---This cave is most visited due to religious significance and easy accessibility from the town.The cave is deep cold and unexplored with many tales of explorers not returning back alive.The floor of the cave is immersed in cool water and at the entrance you have a
Shivling or phallic representation of Lord Shiva formed after eons of sandy deposits on the floor.
Priyadarshini Point :--The major mountains of Satpura ranges can be seen here like the famous Chauragarh with ancient Shiva Temple at the top surrounded by thousands of Trishuls or Tridents.
One has to climb hundreds of steep steps to reach the top here.Left or Right wherever you gaze settles on mountains ranges and steep valleys;the emerging sun from the jagged stonescapes greets you.
In wet weather layers of clouds in their misty splendour engulf the mountains and one witnesses a never ending game of hide and seek that ensues as the sunrays struggle to break out of the web of clouds.Weird shapless shadows form on the floor of the valleys and then vanish in an instant .
B-Falls :--Water falls 150 feet below, crsytal,clear. One gets the feeling that molten silver is being poured from this fall. An ideal must see for the visitors.
Pandav caves :--- These caves are considered to be carved out during the Buddha period. As per popular myth the five Pandava brothers of Mahabaharata era spent some years in exile here.
Mahadev :-- This cave is 30 meter long and water seeps inside the cave. The source of this water has been traced to a water fall. In the middle of the cave is a small pool of water. Inside the cave is a Shivaling (Phallic Rep. of Shiva).
Dhupgarh is the famous sunpoint here.Ideal for Sunset in clear weather.
