Pat Robertson once explained that he served the Lord, ministering, and following Biblical principles, including financial matters. He explained how he and his wife had worked hard to stay out of debt, and how they lived in cramped quarters.
To continue in the Biblical principles, he didn't want to buy a house on credit. But he was torn, and wanted to provide a house for his family.
He found a house he could buy, but it was not much of a house, and it was all he could afford. Even then it would be very hard to pay for it, over the many years ahead.
His Biblical resource explained to him how he should wait upon the Lord. So, as hard as it was, he had patience.
A few months later, a friend spoke with him. The friend said he owned some houses, and asked if Pat (and family ) might consider living in a house as a custodian while the friend lived elsewhere.
Pat & family were overwhelmed with joy, thanking the Lord for a nice place to live. I'm not sure, but I think he got paid also.
The friend took them to see the house. It was a mansion.
--------------------
My wife and I have been married 24 years. The first part of our marriage we kept moving from one apartment to another, chasing jobs.
More recently, there were situations that indicated we should wait and see what would happen next, such as for instance, we almost moved to Florida as part of a business expansion, that never materialized.
So, desiring to provide a house for my wife and myself within the near future, possibly our retirement house, I decided to ask Christ for a house.
For reasons of ongoing business investments for improvements and growth, there just wasn't much cash available. I didn't want to go into debt.
Prayer results were immediate. Within a few days many tiny sources of income started emerging. Also, many savings were occurring, bills were shrinking.
Someone's invention, for instance, multiplied my cost-effectiveness. Some other company, for instance, did away with fees in a particular area, and so on.
As weeks and months passed, increases grew. Prior to praying, realtors ignored me; after praying a valuable realtor with surprizing resources called me unexpectedly. The situations just continued to improve.
Then in late 2000, I started receiving unexpected large sums due to circumstances beyond my control.
The economy changed. I don't recall the market ever being this favorable for me, although I see that for many others there is anguish, and I share their sorrow and continue to do what I can in prayer for them.
I thought I would have to sign many papers holding me personally responsible: that's not the case. It's actually the other way around.
I sign nothing, and if I want something reasonable done, such as if I find a cracked board that I want replaced, I say it and they do it.
I have seen so many things that I thought were great obstacles, fade away.
Problems turn into benefits. Suffering into joy: Praise the Lord!
