This is one of our most favorite spots to vacation. For those of you that don't recognize it, this is South Padre Island, on the Texas Gulf Coast. Mom and Dad winter here and we found time at the end of January and beginning of February to visit the island.

We also visited Mary's parents who winter in Del Rio, Texas, west of San Antonio.

We had beautiful weather while vacationing, although it turned a bit nasty on the day we left for home.

Here is the pro showing the rookies how this footing thing is done.

Notice the fine form.

This was done on a dare by Aaron. After teaching him to barefoot and

trying to get him to do some tricks, he challenged me to at least

attempt to barefoot myself. I am happy to say that I made it on my

first try. Mary was kind enough to capture the run on film. Upon

climbing in the boat, I was heard to mutter "What's so hard about

that?". You best keep this image as I don't intend to try this dumb

stunt again!

This is Christin. She is currently attending the

University of Minnesota (Go Gophers!) at Minneapolis,

majoring in Public Relations. Christin is in her fifth year,

and third major, with plans to complete her education and

graduate in the spring of 1999. In her spare time she works

as a C.N.A. at a nursing home. She also works as a hostess

at Champs in downtown Minneapolis.

Christin does like to receive gifts. Just ask her!

Aaron is currently attending Mesabi Community College in Virginia working toward an A.A.S. Degree in Marketing/Management. Aaron expects to graduate in May of 1999. Aaron works at a sporting goods store in Virginia and also works at Giants Ridge as assistant to the Special Events Director. Aaron is the proud father of Noah Austin, born on September 4, 1997.

This is Aaron showing me the correct body position for barefooting. Notice how he checks to see if his toenails need to be clipped.

Or maybe the water is just too hot for his feet. ShowOff!!!

Lindsay is currently a Junior at Mesabi East High School in Aurora. Lindsay will also graduate in May 1999. Talk about alot of graduations in one year...

Lindsay proudly displays the medal and trophy from the 1998 Minnesota State Womens Senior Hockey Tournament. Lindsay's team took second in the 'BII' division, surprising everyone including themselves.

If you would like to see a photo of the whole team go to Team Photo. While you are there you can check out the community we live in.

Lindsay plans to play high school hockey next year with the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears.

Lindsay participated in Track and Field again this

year. She is hoping to increase her strength for

hockey next winter.

Lindsay will also participate in a hockey league in

Hibbing this summer and a hockey camp in Hoyt

Lakes.

This is Yolanda. Loni (as she is know to us) is a freshman in High School. Loni is our only child not graduating in May 1999. What a relief.

Loni enjoys participating on the golf team. Loni golfs at the municipal golf course located just a mile and a half from our house.

She plays the trumpet in the band at school and won awards at Districts and Regions this year. Loni has also been playing the piano for the past four years. Loni is currently trying to raise funds for a band trip to Florida next April.

Yolanda also enjoys swimming on the girls high school team in the fall each year. She has family competition as cousins Nicole Pagliaccetti swims for Virginia and Sheena Rossman swims for Chisholm.

I enjoy the opportunities to visit with the Pagliaccetti's at numerous meets each year. I think we all wish that they would install air conditioning in the pool complexes though. It can get a bit stuffy in late August and early September sitting for hours on end in the hot and humid bleachers. For that matter, padded seats would be nice too.

Loni is planning on attending a swimming camp in Hibbing this summer.

Here we have Bennie, the Collie we adopted on the 4th of

July in 1997. Bennie is originally from St. Paul and was

adopted from Contented Critters. Mary and the girls saw

his picture in the paper and fell in love with him. He is a

great addition to the family. I just wish he would find

somewhere besides my chive patch to do his 'duty'.

This is Elizabeth and Aaron. This photo was taken in 1996. Elizabeth is the mother of Noah Ausitn.

This is Noah Austin, our first grandchild.

A spittin' image of me I think.

Noah is 8 months old in this photo.

A Little History......

I (Frank) am employed at LTV Steel Mining Company in Hoyt Lakes as a Fire and First Aid Man. I have been at LTV for 24 + years, the past 6 as a Fireman. I also work part-time at the Arena in Hoyt Lakes where I operate the Zamboni. Lindsay is also employed by the Arena.

Mary is employed at Fingerhut in Eveleth where she has been the past 6 years. She plans to keep working only as long as I do, which hopefully won't be too much longer. Mary is also a licensed Cosmotologist, but prefers the hours at Fingerhut.

As a family, we enjoy waterskiing and have been members of a local waterski club for about 15 years. The whole family skis, although Mary and I don't participate nearly as often 'on the water' as we once did. The club has been involved in show skiing so the kids have had the oportunity to learn various types of skiing - barefooting, pyramid building, ballet line, etc. In 1990, I was involved with starting the Minnesota Show Ski Association, which presently organizes the Mid-States Show Ski Tournament held on the last weekend in July in the Cities. I am currently a NSSA rated Regular Judge and enjoy working the tournament which is a qualifying tournament for the Nationals.
