House Plans

The house will have a fairly large great room with beamed ceilings reaching a height of 23 feet. Also floor-to-ceiling arched windows for good light and visibility of the water.

Everything will be done in colonial hacienda style, with all ceilings of beams and "medio pliego." Floors will be clay or stone tile; if clay, accented with colored talaveras. There will be a book case built into the wall of the study. The larger upper bedroom will have two large terraces, one front and one back. The smaller upper bedroom will have one large front terrace. There will be an observation terrace on top, on the third level at a height of 23 feet, with a catwalk the width of the roof.

Here's a tile pattern we're considering for the entry.

In the plans below, circles indicate cupolas. (One over the entry and another over the second-floor shared bath.)

First Level (Top of drawing faces toward street; bottom faces toward canal.)

Inevitably, we are making ongoing changes to the above. The prow-point of the kitchen (where the sink is) and the similar study point will be widened. The back (canal side) terraza-veranda, the one which wraps around the great room (estancia) just above, will be wider than shown (the latest revision calls for a width of 3 meters or 9.9 feet), and will be fully covered with a column-supported second-level balcony. The roof over the estudio (study) will be a three slope. The great room will have wide French doors across the back (facing the canal).

Second Level (Top of drawing faces toward street; bottom faces toward canal.)

Possible Great Room tile.

Front Facade. (Just a crude drawing by the future owner.)
