Dylan McDermott, once Mark McDermott, plays the gorgeous Bobby Donnell on The Practice .Dylan's mother, Diane, was only fifteen years old when Dylan was born, and Mac, his father, was only seventeen. Diane died when he was five and the circumstances of the death is something that neither his father or he, talk about.
Quote: " Her death was eventually ruled an accident, and I think we can leave it at that." Dylan also has a beautiful daughter of his own, Collete who was born in 1997.
In 1999 Dylan won a Golden Globe for his performance as the heart throb lawyer. He decided against wearing the Valentino suit he was fitted into, and decided not to jinx things by wearing the same Valentino suit he wore the year before when The Pratice won a surprise emmy. He also decided to not prepare a speech. Immediately after winning, Dylan rang his father Mac, a new york bartender, and then his stepmother Eve Ensler (Mac's ex-wife) who inspired him to act, saying that he was a "lost" sixteen year old man who could act.

Dylan, knew that most people viewed him as Julia Roberts' ex - fiance.
Quote: They were struggling to find an identity for me, beyond ex-fiance."

Dylan actually got his role of Bobby Donnell when he was waiting in the same Beverly HIldton Ballroom, where the Golden Globes were held. Jeffrey Kramer, the president of David E. Kelley Productions went up to him and said:"Do you like good scripts?". Dylan felt like it "spoke to me immediateley. It was like yes, do this!" It was actually ironic because 20 years before this had happened, Jeffrey was still an actor who would eat at Mac McDermott's Greenwich Village New York Bar.

QUOTE FROM DYLAN McDERMOTT ON HIS CHARACTER:
"I feel like I'm more myself in this role than I ever have been, I think maybe thats why people are responding.....He's got a lot to prove to this world, Bobby. He has a monkey on his back because of where he comes from. But he's learned to direct his anger, which is really more passion than anger. And he could have sold out, but he's still in the trenches."
