Eugene Young (Steve Harris) doesn't like to lose, and he rarely does. With his cocky and very confident attitude Eugene is a winner in the courtroom and he knows it, even going so far as to place bets with Opposing counsel that he will score a seemingly impossible acquittal. The juries seem to trust him, as he has a natural ability to talk directly to them and say what they are thinking. He is a challenge to every DA he meets, as he fights hard and sometimes dirty for every client, whether assured of their innocence or not, if fact he has been known to admit that he fights harder for those he knows are guilty. Maybe to prove that he can get them off.
Whilst it would seem in the courtroom that Eugene is left unaffected by the dirty tricks he uses to obtain acquittals for what are often immoral and disgusting clients, away from the court he is becoming more and more insecure about his actions. His son's recent arrest for drug possession and his ex-wife's constant questioning of his morals has made him take his cases very personally. Eugene has been shown to have a violent temper when he is having doubts about himself and his job, this has been demonstrated through his actions in attacking a child-rapist client of his, and his outburst in the episode 'Honorable Man'. However despite his doubts and self-evaluation he is still the consummate and passionate professional when before a jury.
Eugene was one of the first members of the firm, after Rebecca and Bobby. Bobby trusts him and knows he is a vital asset to the firm, he proved this by giving him the largest slice of the partnership.
Eugene's Quote: "I get paid to represent [people]. What I think isn't up for sale."
