The 9th race of the Equinics was up... the Aphrodite Filly Sprint. Twelve fillies two years old came to Vermont to represent their home track. The race was for a piece of the $400,000 purse going 6 furlongs on the fast dirt.

I choose a seat away from the crowd so I could get a great view of the entire race. Although a few horses were acting up the field as a whole warmed up well. As they began loading into the gate I had butterflies in my stomach, so far Vermont has a gold and a bronze and I am hoping for more.

As the gates opened it was BUDA QUEEN taking the early lead. Her lead was long-lived though as second call rolled around it was now the favorite RICKY'S NIGHTMARE in the lead. She remained ahead of the field by a length. On the way to the finish line, BELLE TRUMPET and jockey W. McClendon dug in deep and flew past the leader to win by over two lengths.

This beautiful brown daughter of Storm Cat returned to the winners circle for the second time in her short raceing life to collect her beautiful gold medal. Now ranked the #3 filly, she has over $400,000 in earnings. This race she clocked in a 1:10 2/5 time to earn a lifetime high of 97 so far in speed rating. Being so royally bred with Storm Cat, AP Indy and Danzig behind her I can only see Graded wins in her future for trainer trumpet and her resident stable Sweden.

Coming in second was the favorite RICKY'S NIGHTMARE for trainer hilofarms and team Minnesota. She earned a silver medal for her stall and a 92 speed rating to add to her collection of 90's.

And earning the bronze was SEAWOOD a representative for Nevada trained by alexxx69. She earned herself an 89 finishing a little over 3 lengths behind the leader.
