The Dionysus Wine Run-GI_All horses 3 and up, 12f on the
turf
#1: Joe Cayenne - Longchamp - Rbgstable - The 5/2
morningline
pick in this race, this 5yo son of Nightshift has been 1st or
2nd in 10
of his 15 lifetime starts. He won the GI Man O War Stakes in
his last
start, which was last week, and came back with an awesome 117
spf. Joe
ran second to Saddle Dedicate in the Sword Sawllower in week 753
and
loves the lawn so he is a solid pick here, saving all the ground
in this
million dollar race.
#2: High Devil(FR) - Delaware - Devil - More lightly
raced than
the majority of this field, this 5yo Irish River(FR) horse has 7
wins
from 11 starts and $1.5 million in the bank. He has won his
last three
races at this week's distance, including a victory in the
prestigious
Sand Castle Golden Turf Classic, a GI affair held in Dubai. One
concern
with HIgh Devel though is his inactivity, he has not raced since
week
718 and will have plenty of speed to deal with ont he front end
for this
race.
#3: Her Book - Ireland - Tbshow - This very inexperienced
Polish
Numbers 3yo has a 2-2-1 record from his 5 starts thus far. He
has the
look of a solid miler, but this race will be too far against too
good
for him.
#4: Fit Groom - Nevada - Mcjonny - The 'Wolverine' was
the hero
of the New Yorker early this year, stamping himself as the best
distance
3yo in the SIM. His has won 12 races an over $1.7 million,
including
all of his 3 12 furlong efforts. He can relax on the lead and
has all
the stamina his owner could ask for, and will look to redeem an
earlier
defeat in Vermont.
#5: North Jesting - New York - Xshadowx52 - Another 3yo,
by Roman
Majesty, he doesnt bring near the credentials of Fit Groom but
is
nothing to turn your nose at either. This colt has 2 wins in
open 3yo
stakes races, over 8 and 8.5 furlongs, and likes the turf. The
distance
will be his first test this week, if he can handle that...can he
handle
this field?
#6: Dynagrade - Sweden - Chickadee - This 3yo Dynaformer
colt has
won 4 of his 10 starts, but in his last two races past 9
furlongs he was
soundly beaten and doesnt warrant much consideration this week,
unless
he were a "she"...all Swedish females warrant consideration :)
#7: Dakota Skull - Nebraska - Whitby - By Far Noth, this
7yo
horse has not won since he race at 6.5 furlongs, and has beaten
a grand
total of 4 horses in his last three races combined.
#8: Shin Shocking - North Carolina - JimmyQuinn - A deep
closer
out of Sunshine Forever, this one has won both the
Fuzzbuster and
Run Away Train stakes, contested at 12 and 13 furlongs.
He has 7
wins in all but doesnt look like he will get his eighth this
week.
#9: Making The Cat - Minnesota - David37373 - This 3yo
Storm Cat
colt had already won 9 races in his career, totalling $1.3
million in
purse money. He had won three in a row, including a GII and
GIII,
before placing in both if his latest starts, the GII Upper
California
Derby and the Big Red Stakes. Talented and closes
like a
freight train, but will his move come early enough this time?
#10: Moon Earl - Iowa - Keast - This 5yo Little Nureyev
offspring
is capable of contending with these when he runs his best,
problem is
you dont really know when he will. He has 7 wins from 29 starts
and is
a possibility for the exotic players in this race.
#11: Royal Roo - California - Rustler - A wildcard in
this race,
this 5yo Danzig horse has won 5 of his 8 starts thus far,
including his
last 3 in a row, all on the turf. He seems to love it the
longer he
goes and will be an enormous threat if he continues to improve
the way
he is.
#12: Rain Tootsie - Vermont - Nasrullah - This 6yo
Rainbow Quest
mare is taking on the boys for a very fat purse. She has been
first of
second in 11 of her 19 starts and was a very good second inher
last, the
GI Balck Gold Stakes. This local runner looks to be
coming into
top form and is the liveliest of longshots for this race.
