The first race of the afternoon, The Hyperion Dash, set the tone for the rest of The Equinic races. As the 12 colts came on the track, their coats shining from good feed and lots of elbow grease, the crowd stood and cheered, and the young gods felt the electricity in the air, they arched their necks and high blew their way to the gate. Each one was carrying a heavy load, not only the weight of the rider, but the hopes, the dreams, and the aspirations of their owners, as well as the tracks they represented and their cheering fans.

The crowd held their breath as the horses all loaded quietly and with the push of the button the Equinics had begun. Away the quickest was Thechef’s Financial Colony, but he was pushed from the start by Baby Prospector. Together, down the back side they looked each other in the eye and neither faltered until going into the far turn when Financial Colony had given all he had to give. Baby Prospector opened up a length and a quarter lead but from the back of the pack was coming a raging storm. Storm In The Woods, owned and trained by Daniel, was flying down the stretch. The Swedes were cheering him on, but Baby Prospector was not to be denied, and finding that last bit of strength, stuck his nose as far out as he could and it was enough. The photo finish sign flashed but it was Baby Prospector who was crowned the champion for team Minnesota.

Sweden’s Storm In The Woods finished second and is owned and trained by Daniel. Quentin’s Dan’s Cat ran evenly to finish 3rd for Team Nebraska. Macho Man was a closing fourth. Financial Colony ran a game race but tired to finish fifth. BB Buzz was just getting started as were Danger Zone, Infallibility and Paul.G. Gal For Lassos, Cat Strut, and Le Lia Fail completed the order of finish.
