Olympic Motto
wreath
Swifter, higher, stronger

But if, my heart, you wish to sing of contests, look no further for any star warmer than the sun, shining by day through the lonely sky, and let us not proclaim any contest greater than Olympia.

-- Pindar, First Olympian Ode

The Hyperion Dash Preview:
by Roys

With a grade of only II, it lacks respect. This race should not be a Grade I, but a new grade altogether to show the quality that was brought to this track in Vermont to complete for a purse of 400k, which should bolster a million. That's because the twelve horses that have lined up representing 12 tracks from around the world are so accomplished, you wonder how can any of them lose?

Yes, Indeed, these are the superhorses of tomorrow. Some may stretch out to distances of ground and compete against the best at the Classic distances, even the Kentucky Derby. Still, others with their turf pedigrees will go to the grass to compete in the high priced races not only in America but conquer Europe's best races also. Still, others may not stretch out, and may dominate the likes of the best sprinters around in the not so distant future.

While this race lacks some of the top two year olds, it attracted the top speed figure horses, like B.B. Buzz, who was made the 7/2 favorite to win the race. The race lacks runners from the Camel Juvenile run last week in Dubai, like Ricky's Dream and Ziggy's Starbuck. Also in that race that is not in this field are three horses who have run two of the three top sprinting speed figures in the game, those begin 5th place finisher King Nine, and unplaced divisional leader Akula, who did not enjoy the stretch out in distance. Also in that race not featured here was perfect Ant, fourth.

But this race brought the quality here. 12 horses from twelve tracks, who selected the very best of the crop to run here. In fact, King Nine, as shown on the Minnesota Stables, didn't qualify above Baby Prospector, one of the many wildcards here. Why Akula and Perfect Ant ran in the Camel rather than this remains an undaunting mystery.

Twelve Juveniles Bring in Top Pedigrees

Twelve Juveniles were entered into the most prestigious race for their gender in the last year. They will be racing for a purse of 400k. They have run speed figures ranging from zip to the fainting zone. Will a new record speed figure be set here? It seems likely. Without the big guns of the speed figures like Biagi's Warrior, Akula, Long Bozo, and King Nine out, you mean seem weary to say so, but really, it seems likely, especially with the heavy hitter B.B. Buzz.

What makes these thing so predictable? The huge speed figures, the winning percentage, the rankings of horses? Of course! Pedigree. Pedigree will back these dirt sprinters up just fine, and lets take a look at them all, one by one.

#1 Storm In The Woods
Storm Cat x Woodman x Sensitive Prince
Storm Cat suggests this horse will have speed, but should be able to hold it some distance of ground. Woodman suggests even more speed but less of a distance of ground. Sensitive Prince gives this horse the illusion of stamina. This horse has been killer and sprints, and has won at this track.

#2 Gal For Lassos
Regal Classic x Key To The Mint x In Reality
Regal Classic and In Reality say sprints is it. But contrary to popular belief, Key To The Mint implies a distance of ground, and turf. Key To The Mint is by Graustaurk, who has many marathoners.

#3 B.B. Buzz
Deputy Minister x Mr. Prospector x Danzig
All three of these say sprint. Deputy Minister implies the most distance this horse will get, but the others are speed. May have a future of turf. #4 Le Lia Fail
Pioneering x Fairy King x Bold Lad
Pedigree is okay. Fairy King seems to say turf, and this maiden has never done anything on the track that jumps at you.

#5 Infallibility
Storm Of Angels x Lac Oumlet x Norcliffe
Pedigree doesn't say Equinics, but he's done the work.

#6 Danger Zone
Danzig x Nashua x Hail To Reason
Has an amazing turf pedigree here, but has done nothing wrong on track.

#7 Paul G
El Gran Senor x Nureyev x In Reality
Has the best turf pedigree in the group. El Gran Senor was a good sprinter on dirt, as was sprinter In Reality.

#8 Finincial Colony
Miswaki x Danzig x Bold Forbes
This implies big time marathoner. Miswaki and Bold Forbes both throw out a lot of marathoners, his early abilities and speed tactics come from Danzig.

#9 Cat Strut
Storm Cat x Mr. Prospector x Mummy's Pet
Storm Cat x Mr. Prospector gives tons of speed.

#10 Baby Prospector
Northern Baby x Mr. Prospector x Cornish Prince
Has tons of speed, evident with Mr. Prospector and Cornish Prince. #11 Macho Man
A.P. Indy x Mr. Prospector x Nijinsky II
Easy to tell how he got here with this pedigree. A.P. Indy, a leading juvy sire, Mr. Prospector, the leading broodmare sire, and NijinskyII, great in his own rite.

#12 Dan's Cats
Danzig x Storm Cat x Seattle Slew
Sprinting pedigree, all three say speed. Best pedigree of the group.
