Olympic Motto
wreath
Swifter, higher, stronger

But if, my heart, you wish to sing of contests, look no further for any star warmer than the sun, shining by day through the lonely sky, and let us not proclaim any contest greater than Olympia.

I write this article this week while I’m sitting at my old homestead in the green mountains of beautiful Vermont. I’ve been all over the world “chasing the babes” this year and there’s always something special about Vermont to me. Maybe it’s the clean air. Maybe it’s the rolling hills. Maybe it the scenic view from almost anywhere you stand. Who really knows? All I know is when I’m in Vermont my blood pressure always seems to drop. The stomach is never upset. My horses and fellow trainers seem to have more life in them. It must be this wonderful States environment that gets me so relaxed. Well, I was trying to decide what races to write about from last week when I decided why not write a little piece about Vermont. First off I think all of us in simulatedsports need to thank Lady and her sidekick Kate. I understand that the equinics was Lady’s idea from the start and she masterfully seems to have pulled it off. She has gathered horses and trainers from across the United States and Canada. She has sent over special parties to escort our fellow simmers from overseas. Heck she’s done everything but pick the winners. Maybe she can grace us with a pick or two before the races are run. I’ve carefully looked over the 4 baby races and I’m excited as ever. I may even post my picks for the “baby” races. Something I have carefully avoided this summer of “Chasing The Babes”. Many of the Sims top babies and top trainers are now here in Vermont. It seems that an event like this brings out the best in everyone. I even had dinner with TS Monday night. When we get to an important day in racing we always seem to have all the trainers and owners bury the axe for that week. Isn’t that a great thing? Well, watch the message board this week for special updates and sooner or later my personal picks for the baby races. Until I see you all at the races this is Sal wishing you a great day this Saturday and remember that I’ll still be “Chasing Those Babes”…………….Sal

The Hyperion Dash
1st- B.B. Buzz - although I think this colt is better suited over 2 turns I can’t ignore that he has a trip over the Vermont track and that his trainer has reported him sharp.
2nd- Macho Man- Shows plenty of speed the only draw back in my mind is racing back in 2 weeks if he can handle that he’s a winner.
3rd- Storm In The Woods- got to like 8-1 on this colt plus he shows a Graded win at Vermont.

The Poseidon Challenge
1st- Sal Is Gone- Come on people you know I have to pick him he’s sharp and shows he can handle the distance.
2nd- Her Freaks- has the fastest winning time at the distance and surface
3rd- Kilbeggan- How can you leave out an undefeated horse

The Aphrodite Sprint
1st- Rickys Nightmare- Can’t look past that great record she should win this
2nd- Seawood- will win if the top choice fails to fire
3rd- Murf Ray- been well rested for this and has the turf to dirt angle in her favor

Hermes Winged Flight
1st- Provellian- Only try on the turf was a winning effort and that was a grade 1 race
2nd- Gots The Gold Teef- crafty trainer will have her sharp
3rd- Madyson’s Hi- Came back with a nice run after a long lay off could be the days best longshot at 11-1
