After a perfect tightener against older opposition in the Bricassar Stakes, McJonny's long winded 3yo Rusty Around Rat left his mark on a talented group of marathoners which included Saddle Dedicate. Rusty, a son of St. Jovite, was never too far back in the mile and 3/4's affair as top local jock B. Langhorne saved all the ground from the rail. As B. Hillbilly and Bustfully Not Raul set the early pace, Langhorne was content to keep them in his sights, while keeping just behind him. When the real running started B. Hillbilly had already packed it in and Bustfully had opened what looked to be an insurmountable lead. Saddle Dedicate was still toiling in mid-pack, more than ten lengths from the lead, but the youngster to his inside was hitting full stride for a closing kick that took the Pastures crowd's collective breath away. Langhorne skimmed the hedge and blew past that leader for a convincing 5 1/2 length victory, with the Saddle passing a very tired B. Hillbilly for third, another 10 back.

Speaking with Jonny after the race he said he was extrememly happy to bring Nevada home a gold medal and was very proud of his underrated colt, citing his two wins at 12 furlongs as the reason he saw him as a huge threat that day. This marks the 15th win in this colts young career and look for many to come as not too many figure to give him a race at the marathon distances.....maybe he and Saddle Dedicate will hook up again someday :)
