Sim stuff: I've been playing the sim since 1999. My first week was 467. A lot has happened since then, and the game has changed so much, but I still enjoy playing as much as ever. I started with one stable, but after just one week of racing, I knew that wasn't enough! I have ballooned up to a monster total of 7 stables, all of which I've had for at least 4 years. I love every part of so-called sim management (well almost). The claiming, the breeding, the racing... it's all enjoyable, and the best part is it never gets old. There is always a new challenge every week, every month, every year.

My favorite horses are my "old-timers". Some have been retired, such as my first "big" horse Nurse Coon, who raced in the Breeders Bowl. And some are still chipping away, such as Berzerk A. P., who I claimed for a mere $7500 when she was just 4 years old. She has gone on to rack up 36 wins and nearly $1 million in earnings, and is still competitive at the ripe age of 9.

As for accomplishments, everything from claiming a horse and moving them up in class, to breeding a horse who wins first time out, is rewarding. As far as standard accomplishments, I guess I would have to say having 11 Breeders Bowl starters and 2 Bluegrass Derby starters over the years. I've been lucky enough to have 2 Breeders Bowl winners (Barely That Auggie and Kristeene S.) and one winner of a Triple Crown race (Unbridled Fury - Middle Jewel).

In the participation department, having my stables reside in Vermont is as good as it gets. A great bunch of people, and lots of contests and message board banter to involve everyone. That is one reason I especially enjoy sponsoring a contest (Freshman Sires Series) for my fellow Vermont residents. I enjoy doing something fun that brings all the folks together.

Real life stuff: I've been following the racing scene literally my whole life. Some of my first memories are of my dad taking me out to the racetrack. A rather strange but true story is that I learned to read when I was 3, by reading the racing programs out at Santa Anita. I've been a fixture at the track ever since, and I rarely miss a card, whether it be live, at the off-track site, or on TV.

For several years, my dad and I have raced horses in California. That has been a fun little venture. As far as that goes, the highlights would be any time we win a race! I guess the most memorable moments are the first winner we ever had some 10 years ago, and then also racing a horse and finishing 3rd in the $250,000 Cal Cup Classic, beaten only 1 1/2 lengths by California Horse of the Year Budroyale.
