Since this reporter was notified on short notice, I barely arrived at
the track in time to catch the first of the afternoon stakes - The
Phillip's Thank You Starter Allowance, which went as the first race. So I
will apologize in advance for the brevity of this coverage. Due to the
airline losing my luggage, I could only make notes on the SRF, which I
had carried with me. The horses were in the gate for the "Thank You" as I
pushed my way to the rail. In this 4 1/2 furlong dash for 4 YO's and
up, one would have thought that the start is everything, but Saver's
Chronic Roger came away slowly but blew everyone away in the stretch
to win by a length and 3/4. This 6YO son of Last Tycoon destroyed the
field of 12 with Vermont's top rider, B. Langhome up, in a time of :51
4/5.
