The Call Chapter 11
Two years later June 2000
"Allow me to introduce for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dorough!"
Behind the door, Isabel was nervous. She wasn't used to being the center of attention, but here she was, on her wedding night, with the man she loved more than anything, about to go into the reception. She squeezed Howie's hand.
"Are you ready, Izzy?" Howie asked.
She looked at him and smiled. "As ready as I'll ever be!"
He smiled. "Let's go."
They entered the room hand-in-hand. She saw their families, Star, Robert, Lisette, Elena, the other Backstreet Boys, Dr. Morrison, and many others. Then, AJ, Brian, Kevin, and Nick went up to the DJ.
After they spoke briefly to him, Kevin went up to the mike.
"We wanted to make this night special for our groupmate, so Howie, Izzy, this is for you. Congratulations."
The others crowded around the mike and all of them started to sing their wedding song, "Spanish Eyes", the song that started it all.
As she danced with her new husband, Isabel sighed. They had made it. They got through the tough times of Howie's car accident, and of her move to Orlando.
Then, she glanced over his shoulder to find Star coming up towards them with tears in her eyes.
"Star, what's wrong?" she asked.
"Robert broke up with me!"
"Star, I'm so sorry."
"I was afraid to tell you....because it's your-"
Isabel held up her hand. "Don't worry about that." She turned to Howie. "I'll be right back," she promised both Star and Howie. She went off in search of AJ.
"Izzy, what's up?" he asked as she came up to him.
"AJ, could you do me a favor?"
"Sure, name it."
"Robert broke up with Star and I was wondering if you would-"
"Say no more. I'll chill with her."
"Thank you so much!" She grabbed him by the arm. "This way." She led him back to where Star and Howie were standing.
"I'm back," Isabel said with AJ right next to her.
"Star, you remember AJ, right?" Isabel asked.
"Of course I do. Hi, AJ."
"Hi, Star. Do you want to dance?" AJ asked.
"Sure!" She went off with AJ to another spot on the dance floor.
Isabel laughed as Howie took her into his arms. "You know, you're a really great friend to have," he said.
"Well, I had a feeling Robert would leave her, but I also knew that she was crazy for AJ. He feels the same way about her. I just helped the process a little."
It was his turn to laugh. "You are so beautiful," he said as he kissed her.
The reception went well into the night. The newlyweds danced all night long, acknowledged every smile that went their way, and looked like they would be together forever. They noticed AJ and Star dancing and laughing as well.
"I think those two are going to hook up," Isabel said, nodding her head towards AJ and Star.
Howie followed Isabel's gaze. "You're right. Wanna know what else I think?"
"Yeah and what's that?"
"I think they'll get married and live happily ever after," he said.
"And what about us?"
"I think we will too," he said right before they kissed.
She had no doubt about that!
