Chapter 16

The next 3 days passed without a hitch. Robert had left Star alone, or so it seemed. Not long after the video shoot did Robert make his next move. Star was sleeping peacefully in her room in AJ's house for the 1st time in a week. She had been going to the shoots with AJ early in the morning and coming back late at night. She was exhausted, no doubt about it. She woke up, wanting a drink of water. A creepy feeling settled in the pit of her stomach. "Something's wrong," she thought. She reached over and turned on her light, only to see Robert standing in a corner of her room. "What the hell are you doing here?" she yelled, running to her door. She wasn't fast enough. Robert grabbed her arm and spun her around. "Knock it off or I'll scream!" she screamed. "Just try," he said, his blue eyes glaring at her. "GET OFF OF ME YOU SICK BASTARD!" "Star?" AJ knocked on her door, sleepily. "What's wrong, baby?" She didn't hear him, her fear was that intense. Robert must have heard AJ because he let Star go just as AJ walked through the door. "What the hell is going on?" he roared as Robert jumped onto a large oak tree outside Star's window and scurried out of sight. Star collapsed on her bed, shaking from fear. "Starry? Are you okay?" he asked. She shook her head. "Stay with me, AJ. Please?" she pleaded. He sat next to her and pulled her close to him. "I'm not going to leave you, Starry. Not now, not ever." "I'm scared," she whispered against his chest. "Don't worry about him. I won't let anything happen to you." She smiled weakly and promptly fell asleep in his strong arms. AJ placed her gently on the bed, like he would a small child. He climbed into bed with her like he did that one night she had had the nightmare, wrapping his arms around her delicate waist. He never went back to sleep, though. He was afraid that moron would come back. He thought of a solution to the problem, but he needed Star to agree. He got up, and after making sure Star was fast asleep, went to his room to make a phone call. "Security is weak around here," he thought as he dialed the number. "Hello?" a sleepy voice answered. "Q, it's AJ." "What the hell? It's 4 in the morning!" "You're normally up by now, so shut up!" "All right! All right! What do you want?" "I need you to beef up security around my house." "Were you attacked?" "No," AJ said. "But Star was." "Star?" "Yes, Star! Her psycho ex-boyfriend came into her room!" "All right, Bone, calm down! I'll see what I can do. Anything else?" "Nope," he replied. "Just make sure Star is safe." "I'll try, Bone, I'll try. Good-night." AJ hung up the phone, relieved. He decided to go back to bed. He walked into Star's room, expecting her to be asleep. But she wasn't. "What's wrong, AJ?" she asked. "Nothing, honey. I'm just glad you're all right." She smiled. "Well, I'm fine physically. Mentally, that's a whole other story!"
