The One Chapter 7
"Wow, Star, you look great!" AJ exclaimed as Star walked down the stairs in a black halter top and black leather pants. "The guys are in the backyard."
"Is Lisette with them?"
"Yeah, she's singing, if you can believe it."
"That's Lisette for you." She shook her head. "She gave up writing so she could sing, but it hasn't been easy for her."
"Really?" Star nodded. "Maybe we can get her as our opening act!"
Star's eyes went wide. "She would love that!"
He grinned and held out his hand. "Come on, Starry."
She giggled and put her hand in his. AJ led her out to the backyard, where AJ had invited the rest of the Backstreet Boys, Isabel, Angela Richardson, Serena and Lindsey Parker, Maria Perez, and Anna Rodriguez, Star's new family.
"Hey, Star! Over here!" Lindsey screamed.
Star laughed. "I'm going to catch up with my friends. I'll talk to you later, ok?"
"Ok."
She walked over to where her friends were sitting. Lindsey grinned. "Girl, you need to tell us what's going on!" Maria said.
"Nothing much. You all know that Robert and I aren't together and that Lisette and I moved here. Nothing else has happened in the past three months. Except," she said with a mischievous grin on her face. "I'm now working as a massage therapist on the Backstreet Boys' next tour!" she exclaimed.
"Congratulations, Star!" Isabel said. "But why as a massage therapist?"
"Fatima said that it might help out the dancers."
"Cool!" Angela and Anna exclaimed.
Star smiled. "Enough about work. Remember in Chicago when Linz ran on stage and pulled Nick's pants down?"
They all laughed as Lindsey grinned. "He had that coming! But imagine what the audience thought of Nick in his boxers!"
They all laughed even harder. "Or better yet, the Dallas concert, when AJ fell during the "Larger Than Life" routine and forgot the words too!" Serena added. "That was a classic!"
"Stop!" Angela screamed.
"Yeah, guys, stop!" Isabel said. "My sides hurt now!"
"Ok, guys, stop." Lindsey said. "Star's man is coming!"
"Hello, ladies," AJ said as he came up to their table.
"Hey, Bone!" they all said in unison.
"Just what I wanted to hear. Seven beautiful ladies saying my name!"
"AJ, you know we all want you so bad!" Isabel teased, keeping a straight face.
"Flattering, Iz, but I need to talk to Star."
Star got up and joined AJ. "I'll see you guys later!"
"Bai, Star!" they all said.
AJ took her past the pool and past a table to a corner of the backyard.
"What is it?" she asked.
"You're going to have some company on the tour."
Her eyes went wide. "Do you mean Lisette and the guys agreed?"
He grinned. "Yep. So now we have a massage therapist and our opening act!" he said as he hugged her.
She looked over his shoulder and sighed. She'd been hoping for a different confession from AJ, but for now she had to take what she could get.
